Update to Previous Review

Netbook Barebone
Netbook Barebone

Pros: After a month of use I wanted to provide an update. Everything still plugging along just fine. Using it at home and at school and everything is just peachy. No crashes, hiccups, burps or anything. Ubuntu boots in about 30 seconds, shuts down in about the same.

Cons: Battery Life, but people have been saying this since the beginning of the reviews.

Overall Review: Get the $4 screw kit available on here, the Link Depot LD-SCREWSKIT Screw Kit. It has the M3 screws you will need.

Very Impressed So Far

Netbook Barebone
Netbook Barebone

Pros: Easy to set up right out of the box. Added WD 120gb hdd and 2 gb ram. Booted and installed a linux variation and so far everything is just fine. Fast, peppy system, writing this review with it actually.

Cons: Echoing what others have said, the keyboard is a little awkward, even after typing on a laptop for years. If you buy one of these, and I hope that someone from ZOTAC reads this, GET BETTER SCREWS FOR THE HDD. The ones that come with the system suck. WD is the most prevalent HD on the market, the least you could do is include screws that fit! If you are a customer, order some sort of flush screw set from the egg if they have it. I tried my local RS and no joy. Eventually found them at a homegrown electronics store.

Overall Review: This is for you guys at Newegg - I read that a lot of people get these and they are DOA, well one thing i noticed when the friendly UPS guy dropped it off yesterday...it was shipped in the retail carton. Not the nice pretty retail carton inside a box surrounded by styro-nuts or bubble wrap. Just the regular off the shelf carton that looked halfway beat to hell. Might have something to do with it....these aren't like my Panasonic Toughbook, I can't shove this netbook through a piece of drywall and then check my email. Better packaging might solve some of the DOA issues.
