This review is from: NETGEAR WN111 Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter
Pros: Improved signal strength to desktop computer at least 50 feet away with a N300 router. Now I get at least 80+ Mbps when I used to get less than 10 Mbps with a PCI wireless Linksys WMP54GS adapter. Surfing is much improved with faster page loads and faster downloads.
Cons: Did not come with Window 7 drivers so I got them from the Netgear web site. I had this puppy running on Windows 7 32bit & 64bit flawlessly.
Other Thoughts: Be aware of interference. Most routers, cordless phones and ceiling fans with remotes operate on the 2.4Ghz frequency. My cordless phone base was 1 foot from my router, when I moved the phone base to about 12 feet away signal quality improved from 2 bars to 4 bars. We don't have a ceiling fan in the room with the routerREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: Improved speeds from 54 Mbps to 130 Mbps plus signal quality went from 2 bars to 5 bars. I used the Encore win 7 64 bit drivers from their web site and then I used windows update for the most recent Realtek driver.
Cons: Why am I only getting 130 Mbps?? My router is a Netgear N300 ADSL2 + Modem Router DGN2200 v4. I replaced my wireless-G Linksys PCI adapter card (WMP54GS) which gave me a maximum speed of only 54 Mbps running Windows 7 64bit.
Other Thoughts: I may have been experiencing or still am experiencing interference. My cordless phone base was less than a foot away from my router. When I moved it about 12 feet away from my router my signal quality improved. Cordless phones operate at the same 2.4Ghz frequency as most wireless routers. Also most ceiling fans with remotes operate at 2.4Ghz frequency also but we don't have one in the same room as the router.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Netgear Inc. DGN2200-100NAS Wireless Router with DSL Modem
Pros: Easy To Set up. Follow the Genie installation guide. No software required to install on your computer
Cons: None really but when I mounted it horizontally the bottom of the unit got very, very warm. Almost hot. I used the stand to mount it vertically and the next day it was ice cold.
Other Thoughts: I bought this device to replace a failing Actiontec modem/router that was only 17 months old. I have existing Verizon DSL service. Remember to wait for the globe to light up yellow on the router after you hook it up. I waited over an hour after I hooked everything up. Then I was good to go. I didn't even have to call Verizon for the user id & password that the directions recommended. Just follow the Genie. I even noticed improved speed over the Actiontec. We use this device with 2 wired devices and 5 wireless devices and all of them work well as expected.READ FULL REVIEW
