This review is from: Orignal Mitsubishi replacement lamp 915B441001 for model numbers WD-60638, WD-60738, WD-60C10, WD-65638, WD-65738, WD-65838, WD-65C10, WD-73638, WD-73738, WD-73838, WD-73C10, WD-82738, WD-82838
Pros: Was relatively cheap, if it is indeed a Mitsubishi manufactured item.
Cons: Doesn't appear to be from Mitsubishi as per described.
Other Thoughts: When I buy a part for anything that is supposed to be from the original manufacturer I expect it to labeled as such. I you buy a part for your Honda that is made by Honda they have the brand stamped on it, if not on the item itself then on the box. This thing arrived in a plane brown box. Nothing about it or the item inside would tend to lead credence to it being made by Mitsubishi.
Does it work? So far, but for how long is the question and fact that it doesn't appear to be as advertised makes me nervous. I'll update it when or if it burns out so if this review is still here 3 years from now with no update you'll know it never burned out in that time.
Pros: No need to wire it into a network as you have to do with the only other real option for people that need a cable card. This was purchased because the our current cable tuner required you to plug it into a network and access it via network. This product does work plugged directly into the comput which was a big improvement as I had no desire to string wire in my house for the other tuner (yes the other one would do wifi but after upgrading to the fastest router we could find you still had issues when trying to use it for HD content). I can use the ceton without any performance issues related to the signal.
Cons: Now the unit does have issues. My htpc is a Mac mini running windows 7. The problem is it will not work if you plug it directly into the Mac mini USB port. You MUST have a USB hub between the ceton and the mini or the mini will not recognize the ceton correctly. Not a major problem, but I only arrived at that solution after hours of Internet searching, the ceton customer service was useless and never mention that mac minis weren't 100% compatible, they simply kept telling me to try new firm ware and a differt USB cord, the Mac mini ceton compatibility issue is experienced by others as a google search proved.
It is also not completely stable, in the 3 months I have had it it has needed to be reset 3 times and one of those times I was forced to call the cable company and have them reactivate the cable card as the ceton somehow hadrons completely out of sync.
Other Thoughts: It does work, but it isn't something that is perfect. You should also make sure you use it on a Rey fast machine and insure you have good hard drives. I have run it on different computers and found that a computer running the bare minimum processor speed will not record smoothly and will have random digital artifacts blocking out the picture. I suggest a minimum of dual core 2.5 or better to get the best results. Also make sure to have a fast hard drive if you intend to record multiple channels at the same time as other wise you will see some performance issues.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Works as advertised.
Cons: System needs to be hard wired, wireless wont work that well.
Other Thoughts: The product works very well at what it does. However the system requirements aren't quite clear on what you need to get it to work. I have the fastest wifi modem I could find at the time. And I get good speed from it, I can watch TV live on my computer or laptop anywhere in the house... However, if you try to do the media center extender it doesn't work well at all. In WMC you have a method of testing your system to insure it will work with a particular extender. I am able to get it to the point that it says it will do standard def TV but can only barely get a bar on the high def level. When you dig into the WMC a bit you realize that it really needs to be hard wired to work well. Wifi will not do it especially if you have the computer running WMC and the extender both on wifi. Also be aware that you will only be able to watch the subscription channels like HBO on a WMC or extender, the standard HDPrime software that comes with it will not allow you to watch the premium channel... Also if you have an Ipad, you can watch normal channel but no premium and there is no work around. Good product but it has some limitations.READ FULL REVIEW
