Doesnt get any better than this
Pros: Great performance for the price. The 4570 only has ddr2 and not the more standard gddr3 but it can still run games like bioshock, mmorpg's, counterstrike source, left 4 dead, Fallout 3, and Unreal tournament 3. Some of those need lowered settings but on a 17" screen 1280x720 still looks sweet. Perfect for the gamer in college who doesnt want to bring his rig or even as a desktop replacement for others. Battery life is fantastic, 2 hours for general purpose computing like firefox, ms office, even a little photoshopping. 1.5 hours constant gaming. UVD 2.0 on the 4570 gpu to help your cpu decode blu-ray, will be nice when i upgrade to a blu-ray rom. It looks beautiful, black with little dark blue dash lines. Not noticeable from afar but up close it looks great.
Cons: The ddr2 is specified as pc2-6400 but it only runs at half the speed at 400mhz at 6-6-6-18-2t timings. I want to see if replacing it with 800mhz pc2-6400 will speed it up or if it will set it down to the 400mhz setting. Memory modules are manufactured by nanya technology who i've never heard of but that could just be me. The heat... it wont burn you if you set it on your lap or anything but the internal temperature at idle is about 50c and up to 80c at full load... not sure about other lappys but if my phenom 2 ever got that hot i'd have a heart attack. I hate trackpads so i hooked up my razer lachesis. Bloatware only takes about 45 minutes to remove which is much less than most laptops, get a program called CCleaner and you'll be good.
Overall Review: I went from a phenom IIx4 940, ddr2 1066, hd 4870, and a 28" monitor to this and it didnt phase me one bit which i was shocked at. This is just about all i 'need'. I like more but this will definitely do for me. I love this 'little' thing. (its bigger than i expected XD)
Should've gone with another company...
Pros: Has all of the features that I needed.
Cons: Board is incredibly flimsy; I would not recommend this for anybody. -3 stars just for that. RMA'ed because I have to push the PSU plug in about 1/4 inch further than the board is supposed to go. If you do not have to take out the 20+4 pin power connector ever than this is a great board, otherwise I suggest against it.
Overall Review: AMD Phenom II 940 Deneb @ 3.4 Ghz 4 GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 @ 1066 ATI Radeon HD 4870 @ 840/1115 Fatal1ty Sound Blaster PCI X1 Saitek Cyborg Keyboard Logitech G5 Laser Mouse Hanns - G 28"
Near perfect
Cons: Two system fan headers. One of them is used by the M.2 slot fan so you only really have one header if you're using M.2. An added splitter or a molex/sata to fan converter would have been a nice addition. Luckily those are cheap so not a big problem.
Overall Review: Everything works simply, smoothly, and as advertised. No issues with hardware or software. M.2 heatsink is a little close to my aftermarket watercooled graphics card's finned backplate (regular backplates fit without issue). Had to remove the M.2 heatsink, install the graphics card, and then reinstall the M.2 heatsink with a single screw, but it still holds it solidly. Not a con, just something to keep in mind if you have a similar setup.
Do Buy
Pros: Price, Size, LED, Brightness, no more black bars while watching HD videos. Creates little to no heat unlike my last monitor with ccfl's.
Cons: Resolution, for a monitor over 24" to not have 1920x1200 is kind of hard to get used to, but not much of a problem when you do. Ugly, UGLY, startup acer logo. TN panel To adjust left and right the whole unit needs to be turned. Knew most of this though so not a big deal.
Overall Review: A little washed out at first, be sure to use the calibration wizard on the included disk. Needed to use the NVidia control panel to tweak it to 'perfect' levels but got very close with just the calibrator.
Pros: Great Price, Quiet, 'fast', overclocks well. Overclocked to 885mhz core and 2200mhz VRAM on stock volts. Stable after hours of stability tests. Never goes over 75c at lowest fanspeed. Nice upgrade from my HD 4870.
Cons: A little long for some people but not an issue for me.
Overall Review: The difference between this card and the original N570OC-13I is the PCB. The original was as long as the cooler and this one is about an inch or so shorter than the heatsink. Rig: Phenom IIx4 940 @3.5ghz 4gb Gskill 1066mhz DDR2 Biostar 790GX mobo OCZ 850w ZX Series 1TB Samsung F3 HDD Xigmatek Utgard Mesh Case Scythe 12 fan Controller
8600gts
Pros: Cheap but feels solid. Put on an old 8600gts which had a dead fan and keeps the card under 55c at load and 45c idle in a case with only one fan. Not too loud, but noticeable, at 100% rpm.
Cons: Takes up a little more than two slots with the card, interferes with the slot two spots away. The fan is mounted to the plastic, not the heatsink itself so you cant just take the shroud off, although you may be able to shave it down a little. The 3 pin fan connector is too short to reach the top of an MATX mobo, buy an extension or a 4pin molex adapter if your only 3 pin header is at the top of your board. Niether are much of a problem in my case so only -1 egg.
Overall Review: Haven't overclocked yet with it but gives a great amount of thermal headroom on the core for doing so. Does not come with memsinks but on most older cards you'd be hard pressed to overheat the memory. Not suitable for high end gpu's Be sure to use non-conductive thermal paste; The AS alumina 14g tube is pretty cheap and works effectively enough.
