Most Critical Review

Disappointing performance and warranty

LG LHB336 3D Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Home Theater System with Smart TV
LG LHB336 3D Wi-Fi Ready Blu-ray Home Theater System with Smart TV

Pros: When the system works (which it did for a month or so), it has a lot of nice features. Picture and sound looked great and the ability to wirelessly stream Netflix was convenient.

Cons: After about a month of use, the picture began to flicker during playback (Blu Ray, DVD and streaming content), eventually going black while the player powered off by itself. This requires a reboot after each occurrence, which takes a couple of minutes or so, which is extremely annoying as it happens in the middle of movies quite frequently. I first checked all of my connections, even replacing the HDMI cable, then called tech support and ran through all of their troubleshooting with them to no avail. Sent the unit in for service and received it back quickly with a message stating that no issues were observed. On the first day back in use, the same problems began again. If LG's warranty simply replaced defective units, this wouldn't be a problem. However, after the 90 day labor warranty expires, it costs $69 each time you have to send the unit back in for service - which according to LG's warranty, I might be doing in perpetuity - turning the unit into an expensive paperweight.

Overall Review: I understand the world's not perfect and you'll get a lemon every once in a while, but LG needs to step up and recognize the value of a more comprehensive warranty and/or replacement policy for these defective units.
