Slow waking up in the morning
Pros: Set up was easy. What took the longest was trying to think of a file structure for my files. I know I wanted to make multiple mapped drives to this NAS.
Cons: My only issue with this machine is it's wake up time. If I leave it idle for more than 15 min (default setting is 5 min, this can be changed or disabled), it takes 3 - 5 seconds to wake up. I dont know if this is the hard drives or the device itself. I would disable sleep mode, but then there goes the life on the hard drives. During the setup, I only came across 1 issue. Not bad for setting up my first home NAS. For some reason my users would be able to access the top folder that is accessible to the, but then couldnt access any folder under that folder. I had to delete the folder structure and start again. It was probably something I did, but after rebuilding the folder structure it worked fine.
Overall Review: Make sure you update the firmware before doing anything. Then think of your folder structure before hand. It will save you time and not keep you up to 3am like it did me!
spectacular
Pros: Clear, crisp video
Cons: Low light does get fuzzy. Does not have HDMI cable, Have to plug in to AC to get footage off of card. (get a card reader!)
Overall Review: Being new to camcorders, I was really excited to get an HD Cam for this price. This is well worth the fun and frustration of editing HD.
No problems yet
Pros: I bought 2 of these for my Canon HF100 so I could get footage of my Wedding and Honeymoon. I was able to fit about 4 hours of footage in HD. Not bad. No issues, no corruption, flawless.
Cons: None yet
A must have if you hate waiting
Pros: What can you really say? It's a bigger battery, it last longer.
Cons: Does not really fit in the form factor of my camera (HF100) and the color doesn't match
Overall Review: Although, I dont really like how the battery doesn't match my HF100, the size actually does have its advantages. The battery sticks out of the camera a bit more than the standard, which is flush. But I like this because with my big hands it helps with holding the camera steady.
Not bad, but not great
Pros: It works and and it hasn't failed me yet (knock on wood)... but that doesn't say much considering I've only had them about 5 days. But I do have (two) 7200.9's in my PC in a RAID 1 for about 3 years and have yet to have them fail (KOW again) which is why I went with WD Caviars again.
Cons: I thought they would be a little bit quieter. I 2 of them installed in a NAS RAID 1(DLink DNS-323) which turns off the hard drives after 15 min. When I go access the NAS after the HDs have been sleeping, you can hear them spin up. Not loud and excessive or anything, you can just hear it. Same goes for when you access files and such, you can hear it. I'd say the volume is about a 3 out of 11 (yes I am referencing Spinal Tap).
