does what you think it does
Pros: RAM worked right out of the box. I used it for HP tx1320us laptop with no problems. First boot took a minute for it to recognize the RAM - after that smooth sailing
Cons: none
Overall Review: good value
Good monitor - they cheap out on the cable
Pros: Lots of screen real estate and vivid crisp colors. Matte finish on the screen (not glass)
Cons: LG does not supply a DVI cable for the monitor. When you spend good money on a monitor they provide you with a DVI cable. No worries, I had one from my previous monitors. Stand does not go up or down or turn (this was known before the purchase, but you only get tilt - to add height you need to get some books. Just be informed)
Overall Review: I use 2 of these for SW development and it's great. Visual Studio can have multiple toolbars open and you can view 2 code docs (say c# doc and a view) side by side all at the same time with just 1 monitor. This was a major improvement from my 2 22" Dell Ultra sharps. The matte finish is great for coding since I have a window in my office. There is no glare. The colors are much better on these monitors compared to my ~4 year old 22" Dell Ultra Sharp. The text is crisp and easy to read in Visual Studio and web. Additionally, the white is not too bright in SQL Server Management Studio (something I was afraid of since it's 27"s of white) Be aware if you are purchasing 2 of these monitors the ergonomics are different than what you may be used to. I have 2 of these and it hurts my neck/back if I look at the edge of the second one for extended periods of time (2+ minutes multiple times a day) because I'm twisted in my chair. I have to rotate my chair and move my mouse to the other part of my desk to square off with it. It's a lot of screen with 2 of these, but not too much. The red light on the bottom is a nice ambient glow and lets you know that your monitors are turned on after you move the mouse to wake the screens back up. It's not distracting when writing code or browsing the web. I cannot speak to if it is distracting when watching a movie or gaming. The monitors do not seem to wobble like some of the reviews have said. I speculate it could because they have the monitors on a cheap desk. ($300 monitors on a $100 desk type of thing) Overall, great buy, but LG did cheap out on supplying only a VGA cable and not a DVI
