Greatest Owned & Sound
Pros: Well constructed & great sounding! I've owned MDR-V6 cans for many years and am considering purchasing another for my wife who has been experiencing headaches with her ear buds. As a programmer who sits at a desk for extended periods, I can have these on all day with no issues. They cover my ears entirely and inherently block out surrounding noises. The cord is coiled so it's not in the way and when it is it's is easy to flip aside. The bottom end doesn't sound muddled/processed - very clear & precise! As a matter in fact, I look forward to listening to music with these just so I can "hear" what I imagine the sound reproduction was intended to be.
Cons: Vinyl ear cushions will deteriorate.
Overall Review: I did a lot of research to find a good set of cans and for the price these topped the charts. Now, I'm at least 8 years running with these, no issues! I didn't wait for the ear cushions to deteriorate, I replaced the originals almost the day I purchased the cans with Beyerdynamic DT-250 (now I think they are 7506) velour replacements. I recently started looking for a set for my wife and didn't expect these to still be available. Very happy to Sony still pumping these. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Not the WD I remember
Pros: Spacious
Cons: Only lasted a year
Overall Review: Seems the bigger the drives, more likelihood of failure. The drive just stopped working after a year. Fortunately, I had it in a RAID 1 configuration so I didn't lose the data; however, I'll be placing an order to replace the other in fear it may fail as well.
Not Too Bad
Pros: No real complaints. It's a decent hybrid suitable for my kids, I bought two and they are digging them. It's very light and thin. The screen is responsive and the keyboard is nice. I think it's pretty well constructed with a nice rubberized feel. My daughters love the face recognition, they sit down and the machine unlocks. The battery life seems to be pretty decent so far with my daughters playing minecraft on multi-hour road trips to visit family for the holidays.
Cons: I think for the price it should at least have a higher resolution (maybe 1080p, certainly doesn't have to be that of the Yoga 2 which is nearly 4k realm). I understand missing the optical drive to keep it thin, fair enough, not going to knock and I knew that when I purchased it. One other thing is the reverse of the Function keys, I have to press FN to activate the F-keys. Not sure how I feel about that and I may find the keyboard app to switch it since my youngest constantly puts her machine in airplane mode since it's next to the volume. One last item is the keyboard needs backlit. I think it should be standard on all laptops anymore.
Overall Review: I've read multiple reviews knocking the Flex over the screen being too dark. It's not the laptop's fault, it's Windows 8 with adaptive display (Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings + Display + Enable adaptive brightness > Off & Off!!). I figured this out with my HP EliteBook nearly giving me epileptic seizures as the light in my cube was behind me and I would create shadows causing my machine to fade in and out constantly - freak'n annoying!! Well, it REALLY affects the Flex and forces it to practically stay dark most of the time - just turn it off!!
Pros: Does what it was designed to do. Absolutely love the color indicators; I purchased the switch on that aspect alone.
Cons: I like black, sleek and sexy; unfortunately, the design of the enclosure is my only beef. The LEDs are on top and I have the switch sitting up on a shelf so I can't see them unless I lift it up or use a mirror. And, you can't stack it or put it in a rack.
Overall Review: While the form factor is a minor inconvenience, I knew that when I purchased the switch; again, the color indicators was the deciding factor and I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
