Great Quality

Intel EXPI9400PTBLK Gigabit Copper Connection for Servers 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45
Intel EXPI9400PTBLK Gigabit Copper Connection for Servers 10/100/1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45

Pros: Simple solid Intel design and performance. THE low end server NIC!

Cons: Had to download drivers. It's a review, I had to complain about something.

Overall Review: Holding the card in your hands the quality is obvious. A breath of fresh air in a sea of low-quality add-on cards.

Don't do it

Eagle ET-AR508LR-BK
140 Watts 2.1 Speakers - Retail
Eagle ET-AR508LR-BK 140 Watts 2.1 Speakers - Retail

Pros: Kickin sound

Cons: Poor build quality that will cause component failure

Overall Review: Really poor buttons and power filtering which, in an audio system, ultimately lead to a pile of junk...in a short period of time. Spend a little more on something more permanent.

Perplexed

SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7PC256B/WW
SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7PC256B/WW

Pros: It's an SSD?

Cons: I was talking with a developer the other day who has the same laptop that I do. I was complaining about how slow my laptop was and I mentioned that I think they have 5400RPM drives in them (Dell 6430U, what we call "Developer Grade"). He said "I have an SSD in mine." I was like: "WTH, I want an SSD." Looked in Windows device manage and I do in fact have an SSD...a Samsung 830 series 256GB. I'm perplexed because I have never been impressed with the speed of this laptop. Boot time is that of a 7200 RPM mechanical drive..tops. It is an i7 with 16GB RAM and most of my software seems to take forever to load. I had a Dell i5 with a hybrid drive and it outperformed this machine easily. Don't know....just thought I'de throw in my 2 cents.

Overall Review: meh

Get what you pay for

Eagle ET-AR504LR-BK 35 Watts RMS 2.1 Black Soundstage Speakers
Eagle ET-AR504LR-BK 35 Watts RMS 2.1 Black Soundstage Speakers

Pros: Cheap, sounds good if it works.

Cons: Buggy, improper filtering/buffering of the power supply. When plugged into the same recepticle as other electronics it has a negative affect on their operation. Constant hum...I have moved the system to different outlets away from other electronics. Hums with a random pop (loud) that comes through the speakers.

Overall Review: After the unit popped REALLY loud and quit outputting audio I opened it up to have a look. The passive electronic components are VERY cheap and the build quality is fairly sloppy. I yanked the two ultra cheap 2200uF capacitors and I've ordered replacements which I will install. I will update this review if I uncover anything else.

Good for the price

New Earbud IN-EAR Earphone Headphone for iPod iPhone 4 4G 4S 4GS mp3 mp4 Headset
New Earbud IN-EAR Earphone Headphone for iPod iPhone 4 4G 4S 4GS mp3 mp4 Headset

Pros: Small, discrete, and they work

Cons: can't think of any

Overall Review: Very compact and effective. Good sound for such a small, cheap item.

Onboard NIC Issues

ASRock 890GX PRO3 AM3+ AMD 890GX USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASRock 890GX PRO3 AM3+ AMD 890GX USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Great features and reliability, wakes up from sleep

Cons: Oboard NIC is flaky under Windows 7 and Linux.

Overall Review: I thought the NIC flashing between disabled/enabled over and over again was due to Windows 7 drivers, but the same thing started happening under Ubuntu 11.10 as well. I have already posted another review of this otherwise quality motherboard. I bought two and they were both updated to BIOS 1.40.
