Blindingly fast
Pros: Blindingly fast
Cons: A bit expensive, especially for two When all 16 threads are running full blast on a dual-cpu board they produce a lot of heat
Overall Review: These Xeons are very, very fast -- probably just under twice as fast as the previous generation Xeons at the same clock speed
Pretty good but a bit temperamental
Pros: Reasonably priced Good manufacturing quality
Cons: - Seems to be very particular about the RAM. I've got 24GB of Crucial CT25672BB1339 dual, and it will fail to boot about every one time in ten (giving three beeps = memory test fail). - There's an on-board basic graphics chip, which is turned on by default. Although technically any pcie GPU plugged in should work in "slave" mode until you change the settings in the BIOS, my 4870X2 didn't like that one bit. This creates an unpleasant chicken and egg situation where you need to turn off onboard video but you can't see what you're doing! - It's a bit of a squeeze getting a long video card plugged in as there's a chip on the board which hampers you a little
Overall Review: If I were to do this again, I'd definately try a different board. It's OK but feels a bit of an "early" 1366 effort.
