huge jump from a Phenom II :)
Pros: Nice and fast. Installed it on an ASUS M5A97R2.0 mobo which pairs up nicely. Clock speeds hit up to 4.3 with it's turbo function (or at least that's what I think it is). Running all my games at 5760x1080 now with 30-60 fps.
Cons: cooling. The stock heatsink/fan just didn't cut it. That fan would be spinning like mad and temps would hit well over 65C trying to game. Had troubles just with flash games in the browser! Would strongly suggest getting aftermarket heatsink/fan.
Overall Review: I ended up getting the Zalman CNPS 9700 LED heatsink/fan which is working out really well and was easy to install.
DOA
Pros: Bang for the buck. I just wanted something that I could add a mid-range video card and get some better performance over my aging AMD Phenom II box
Cons: well, box showed up and Cybertron shipping must have been in a rush. Needless to say, computer no workie - power supply dead
Overall Review: As frustrated as I was, newegg customer support was great. I was able to RMA the box and get a refund since this product is no longer available. 5 eggs for newegg customer service!!!!
Works Great but...
Overall Review: Replaced an existing ASUS Prime motherboard with this one since it has dual PCIe slots (old one did not). Everything works great, but I was looking to setup a pair of RX580's in CrossFire mode. The description talks about Crossfire support, but upon further inspection during install, the second card is a x4 bus speed. When Crossfire did "work", there was a definite visual issue. Now that I know what to look for, will find a motherboard with x8/x8 support. If it wasn't for that, would be super happy with this motherboard.
What a difference!
Pros: Have a AMD FX-8350 that was topping 63C just with Flash apps in a browser with the stock fan/heatsink. Installed this and now it's about 45C. Couldn't run games at 5760x1080 without the machine rebooting and alarms going off (I imagine I was hitting close to the 70C threshold). Now it's hitting 57C max with those games. Pretty easy to install - the AMD bracket slips right on. Found it easier to install than the stock unit. Just wish it was 4 wire PWM, but didn't want to shell out more $$$. This fit the bill nicely!
Cons: none really - would be neat if it had the 4 wire for mobo control.
Overall Review: This is my second Zalman sink/fan combo - first one was for a Pentium 4 that worked just as well back in the day. There are some who have issues with clearance. I have an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 mobo in a Coolermaster N300 case; and I have no issues with clearance for memory, chipset cooling, etc. worked out great!
nice!
Pros: It's been years since I built a PC, back in the Pentium 4 days. Decided to build my own again, and saw this case with their GXII power supply as a bundle. Everything bolted in nicely with wiggle room. Front panel works with the ASUS M5A97 Mobo, and wow - a pair of 120mm fans! Couple that with the 120 mm fan in the PS and it's decently quiet. Like the quick secure hard drive clips - sure beats the screws from back in the day!
Cons: none.
Overall Review: I like the all black case - very unassuming; not a con for me. However, those looking for bling/flash would probably want to look elsewhere.
Great bang for the buck!!
Pros: Decent price - got a promo deal with it. Setup was easy since I was replacing a AMD R7700. Heavy card, but I suppose that's to be expected these days - neat to see all the cooling pipes and such! Significant improvement in frame rates - I enjoy racing games at 5760x1080. Now I can with high/ultra graphics settings!
Cons: I wish there was something for the 6 pin power connector to clip to. I powered the machine on for the first time with no result, but then noticed that the power connector had come off. Not sure if that's the norm these days too.
