27" ASUS Sweetness

ASUS 27" LCD Monitor 2ms(GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, HDMI MT276HE
ASUS 27" LCD Monitor 2ms(GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, HDMI MT276HE

Pros: Purchased primarily for PC gaming, shooters mostly. Like the previous review, this monitor also replaced my 22" 2ms sammy. Resolution of 1920x1080 on the 27" vs. 1680x1050 on the 22" is a nice balance. Thought I would have liked a 30" display, but at roughly a 28" viewing distance, this does the job nicely of filling your field of view and makes you feel more engaged with the game you are playing. That and headshots are much easier when shooting at pumpkin-size mellons. The monitor came well packaged, easy to assemble and had zero bright or dim pixels. The latter being most important to me. Also, the MT276HE comes with a small remote control that allows you to change the monitor setting while actually viewing the screen from a seated position. Some have said the base is not that solid, I did not find that to be true based on my assessment. Overall a fantastic value and upgrade.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Interestingly enough, like some of my other male gaming counterparts, I'm partially color blind. I will not attempt to rate the displays calibration because of that. However, I will say that going to the larger display, and using one of the pre-set modes that can be selected called "Gaming" on this monitor, the saturation of colors is increased as well as gamma. For me, being color blind and all, this allows me to pickup on some of the detail that I had trouble seeing on the 22" display. That and there's just more display area/data to pickup on.

Great product from G.Skill, and great retail experience from newegg. Has been for both for probably a decade

G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Desktop Memory Model F4-2666C15Q-16GRR

Pros: G.Skill memory as been awesome for me for so long. Always look to choose their product. newegg, also as awesome in providing a great retail experience.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Recommend both G.Skill and newegg, no regrets.

Toxic Madness - Continued

SAPPHIRE Toxic Radeon HD 5970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity 100280-4GTXSR

Pros: Fast...Really Fast...Did I mention this thing is FAST? Make sure you read the "other thoughts" section on installation. Ok...I've had the card installed for two days...computers been running non-stop since. Ran a few benchmarks, 3DMark Score 20409 3DMarks, Sandra 610.25 Mpixels. Also fired up Fallout 3, "Ultra" setting for graphics, Increased-Increased Spawns with Marts Mutant Mod, and runs very smooth. Graphic's quality is amazing.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This is one big card! I mentioned in my first review that I have an Antec Three Hundred Mid-Size tower case. It's a big case, not as big as a full tower, but I have several cases and it's of a decent size. But even still, I had to modify the case by cutting a 3/4 inch deep, 2.5 " long notch in the drive bay support frame to allow the length of this card to fit. (5-minute job). Note that this still allows 4 drive bays to be fully accessible. The card itself measures approx. 2 - 2.5 inches longer than my ASUS 4850.

SAPPHIRE Toxic Radeon HD 5970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity 100280-4GTXSR

Pros: Received my Toxic 4GB card yesterday via. FedEx. Quick inspection last night and it was delivered as described, complete with adapters, game coupons, software and in excelllent protective packaging. Note that I also had to order a new powersupply for this monster (850 watts) for a single card and (1200 watts) for Crossfire. Should have everything installed tonight and will run some benchmarks. Note that this card is replacing twin ATI 4850's (crossfire). For those that care... gaming rig specs are as follows... ASUS P5Q-PRO, E8400 @ 4.2GHz, 4GB G-Skill-Ripjaw DDR2-1200, Antech 850 PS, WD Raptor 150GB, WD 1TB, Antech Three Hundred Case.

Cons: None

Overall Review: More to come...

ASUS 27" LCD Monitor 2ms(GTG) 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, HDMI MT276HE

Pros: In reading these reviews, I just had to take a moment to write a response commending ASUS for there exemplary customer support. Having worked in the in the Customer Service industry for 30 years for several large corporations, I know how important it is to us, the end user to feel that a company stands behind their products. I feel based on my direct observation here, that ASUS, and Newegg for that matter, takes this personally, and that each of their Customers satisfaction is of the utmost priority. Although I have yet to purchase this monitor, only because I'm still currently in "research mode" trying to decide what to purchase to replace my 22" monitor with, I have purchased many ASUS components in the past as well as many others from Newegg. This level of customer service is rarely seen in any industry and at least for me personally, has a significant influence on my purchasing decisions. (continued below)

Cons: None

Overall Review: I want to make it clear that I'm not affiliated with ASUS or Newegg in any way. I work for an Auto company, you know the one that did not take any taxpayer dollars. I hope this note find it's way to ASUS / Newegg Management, if for no other reason than to reinforce how important it is to us, the end users, to have this level of commitment and how it influences our purchasing decisions. Anyways...my $.02 Best Regards, Paul
