Can I use the mouse with this monitor at the same time as the touch control? I don't intend on using the touch and the mouse simultaneously, but when I'm done using the touch feature, it would be simpler to use the mouse for the mundane Windows 7 stuff.

Yes. It is as you think it is. It comes with a pen that you can use if you don't want to use your finger, but the mouse will also control it. Think of it as just another monitor with an extra way to control things. You do not need to press a button or change the wiring to switch between touch control and mouse control. It just works.

I see someone said that it is Windows 10 ready, but has anyone actually used this monitor with Windows 10? I'm running Windows 7 now but will move to 10 this year.

Will the touch feature work with Google Chromebox?

That depends.

The touch screen interface on this monitor works by USB and the OS needs to be able to read the hardware and load the drivers.

I think this may be a question for the manufacture of your Chromebox to see if this is compatible hardware.

I know the reviews listed are old but i still want to know if this touch monitor is compatible with Windows 8.1? I plan on building a PC using Windows 8.1 and this might be my monitor i use unless i spot something better.

i really wouldn't recommend this monitor it has this frame that makes you not be able to "touch" the edges. When it gets dirty it can mess with the "touch" of it making it hard to "touch" stuff and making it inaccurate.

No, this is just a monitor not a computer with windows 7. This monitor is compatable with windows 7 operating system. I've been using it for about two years now. Still works great!

Is the clear "stand" on the bottom of the monitor removable?  I want to use this for my EMR with patients and I can view my software best with patients in the vertical orientation from a wall mount but I don't want this clear plastic sticking out. I just want the solid rectangle of the monitor.

Yes it is easily removable, I took it off to mount it. I am using it with emr but haven't rotated its orientation

Yes. But you will need to buy your own mount.  Look for any model the says its "VESA" compliant.

Can this monitor be used as a drawing device?

It would be a little trickier to use this as a drawing device than other types of touch screens.  Where this is an optical touch screen literally anything could be used as a stylus, and while this sounds great keep in mind that I've had my cats tale as she walked by and a paper towel in front of my screen both cause interactions.

This being the case, if you were using something as a stylus you couldn't rest your hand on the screen, as your entire hand would be registered as a touch, and you don't actually have to physically touch the screen, because it is optical it actually registers the presence of anything hovering over the screen a bit.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great monitor, but as an artistic aid it depends on how you want to use it.
