Question 1

Is there an upright option for this monitor? Really like the looks of it, but I need to look at it square on. (My desk has a raised monitor stand.) Thanks.

Yes, there's an upright option.If you have a raised monitor stand then the depth of your stand sould be checked.I pull the flap (back of the monitor) about 10" away from the back of monitor and it is still almost as if in upright position.The lower part of it's front is transparent and as  about the same hight as most other monitors.For quality,both look and performances,I'm very pleased at using it everyday.

Can this work with a Mac OS X?

It has ports for VGA, DVI, and HDMI to plug into your computer, so it should have no trouble working as a display device. However, regarding the ten point multi-touch functionality, I am unsure. For starters, to make the multi-touch work, it requires being plugged into a USB 3.0 port with the cable that comes with it. (I haven't tested whether or not the multi-touch functionality works when you plug it into a USB 2.0 port, mainly because I have a 3.0 port, and don't need to test that.) If your Mac has a USB 3.0, then it should work. It doesn't require any special drivers to install or anything. Just plug and play like a thumb drive. I'm not sure why you would want that functionality in Mac OS X though... it really only benefits OS' designed for touch interface. Aka Windows 8 and 8.1. Mac OS, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't have extra touch functionality. But if you've got the dough, it is a fantastic monitor with full 1080p support, and extremely fantastic multi-touch feedback. Very excellent monitor.

Is this monitor compatible with Win 7 including its touchscreen function? Last monitor I tried needed Win 8 for Touch but did not say it on the page.

It worked as a standard touch screen (mouse emulation) straight out of the box. Multi touch however did not. I did eventually have get it working with Windows 7. It took a lot of tweaking and finally I needed to download a windows 7 multi touch driver. Windows 7 is not automatically multi touch friendly so I think you will have problems no matter what display you choose. There is lots of information on line, search "multi touch in windows 7" or call the display manufacturer for support.

It is a just a monitor, but a very nice touch screen monitor.  It has great color and resolution.  We love it.

is this compatible with mac osx?

The display is compatible provided you are able to connect either VGA, DVI, or HDMI to your Mac. The touchscreen has no native drivers for OS X. There is a driver available for Mac OS X from a company called Touch-base, but it's pricey.
However, if you have Windows 8 installed with BootCamp, the touchscreen will work in Windows, but not in OS X.

Can I use a stylus with this monitor?

I think that using a stylus would not reasonably be possible given the monitor's native resolution of 1920x1080. I also have never heard of a monitor that would be capable of receiving input from a stylus, either.

I just bought one Acer T232HL yesterday.I used HDMI  and USB cables to connnect between tower and monitor.Touch sensors kept jumping from one point to another.The computer opened from one website to others.Did I do anything wrong or the monitor was defected? Thanks

Very difficult to answer without knowing all the facts. In my situation, I connected to a Windows 8.1OS, I7 computer with USB 3.0 and HDMI. The monitor was turned on first, then the computer. Everything booted perfectly and worked normally. In the instructions, it stated that it was important to follow the sequence. Good luck.

Can you tell me what the difference between this model and the exact same model with "bmidz" appended to it?

I don`t think there is any difference between the two. Acer may have added bmidz as an after thought. The touch sceen works great on windows 8 even in very small areas. It is by far the best touch I have worked with.

the video on newegg didnt show if it was multi-touch capable. the guy only did simple single touch swipes. is this monitor really capable of muilti-touch?

I am able to put all 10 fingers on the monitor and it register them all separately. It is very accurate. I have no complaints at all about this product. In response to a previous answer this monitor does have an HDMI port and is how i have it connected to my tower now.
