Is this monitor for desktops or is it all in one?

This is a standard monitor with touchscreen. In other words it is like a monitor + a mouse.  There is no computer inside.

You hook it up to your desktop or laptop with the VGA display cable and a USB connection for the touch screen functions (mouse) to work.

It has an excellent picture worked out of the box with Windows 8 (didnt need to do anything but plug it in)  My 4 kids were to young to use a mouse but can operate this no problem.

OK, I've read the reviews and others' comments. The question is: is the monitor worth it? I have a Dell desktop running Windows 8.1 and cannot currently take advantage of the touchscreen option. Reviews seem to be all over the board on this.

Hi Terry: I will say that I found it to be a worthwhile purchase.  I got it on a Shell Shocker deal so the price was actually less than what I paid for the 24in LCD (w/o touch OR speakers) that it replaced.  I found that both Win7 (desktop) and Win8 (laptop) automagically recognized the touchscreen and installed the proper drivers.  The screen is decent, I have no legibility or reflection issues with it. As far as the touch portion, Win7 is usable, but with the Win8 Metro/Modern UI it really shines.  It's amazing to see ALL of your app tiles on one screen!  Some folks don't like the 'easel' or 'kickstand' type stand, but since I have my screen nearly flat on my desk, it works quite well for my purposes.  the ony gripe I have is that the speakers are only passable, barely.  I hope this helps.

Is this touch screen truly a touch screen? and is it compatible with a windows 7 Dell PC?

Yes, it's a 10 point multi touch screen, so it will register up to 10 points of touch on the screen at the same time great for playing multi person games. And as long as your PC is running windows Vista or newer and has a USB port available it will work just fine.

How do you setup the touchscreen??

I found the entire setup process for this monitor to be very easy; basically plug and play. It came with four sets of cables which could be plugged into the connection bar on the right side of the monitor( looking at it from the back). The power cable plugged in at the very top of this bar. Next down are spots for audio cables if you have a speaker system which requires them. Next are spots for VGA or DVI cables(choose one depending on compatibility with your computer/video card). The last connection(at the bottom) is a type B USB. This runs your touch screen. You should have an USB cable that came with your monitor. Plug the type B end( smaller) into the monitor and the type A end(larger/normal USB) into any USB socket on your computer. WOW, you have touch!

I have a CPU running windows 8. I'm looking for a touch screen monitor that is compatible. I am not looking for a "ALL IN ONE" comuter/monitor. Is this Hanns -G compatible with my current system?

This is a touch screen monitor that is compatible with windows 8.1 and likely windows 8. I havent tested it with windows 8 but the 8.1 upgrade from windows 8 is free and you should do it if you havent. You say you have a "cpu" (I assume you mean a desktop PC) and that you are looking for an "ALL IN ONE". The term all in one means the computer is built into the monitor which is not the case here. But it doesnt sound like you need an all in one as you said you have a computer if I am understanding correctly.

Is this Windows XP Pro compatible?

The documentation says it is compatible with Windows 7 and 8. It is an HIDs device so it will work out of the box with windows 8. With Windows 7 you will need the latest Windows 7 driver for your particular video card.  Monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs so I suspect it will work like a normal Monitor with any video card outputting to those connectors, but no Touch Screen capability will be available. It is a lovely monitor with the best speaker audio I have every heard out of Color monitor speakers. I could not believe how good the audio was.  The touch screen feature works very well and I was surprised to see that it worked well on the old style (windows 7) desktop as well. This is great monitor in all ways for Windows 8 users. Probably great for Windows 7 Touch also, although I have not tested that.

Question 7

Does this come with some sort of stand?  I would be using as a secondary monitor to go with my 23.7" ASUS monitor.  Just curious if it would sit well next to it.

It has a kickstand that flips out on the back that it leans on.  You can see it in the full set of pictures for the item on Newegg.  Just click on one of the pictures shown along the bottom to pull up the full set of pictures.

I would like to mount this monitor on a wall in portrait orientation. Is the sound bar detachable?

Anyone use this for gaming? Nothing competitive.

This monitor works perfectly fine for gaming. Maybe not competitive but to play console or PC games works just fine I just recommend buying converter to conver VGA or dvi to hdmi if your planning to plug hdmi consoles. Also it have built in speakers which are ok if one doesn't have headphones or speakers. 
Once again works fine for gaming I can recommend this to anyone since I use often on my youtube gaming channel

Can you do a DVI from Osx Mac Pro to VGA to this monitor?
