Yes, the game can be played on a Mac.

The game redeems to Steam.  PC, Mac, and Linux versions are included.

The system requirements are listed on the Product Page on Steam for each OS.

Is this compatible with Windows 8.1?

Yes, it's compatible. Takes a while to set up. Locked up within the game some at 1st. I restarted computer worked fine since without problems.

Does it include Slingshot or any other DLC?

Yes I seem to have gotten the deluxe version. I am not sure if that was a mistake but it was the regular box with the deluxe code.
