Company Profile

Ninebot Inc. was officially founded in 2012 by a group of robot engineers interested in developing new technology for use in environmental protection and artificial intelligence. The engineers attended the 2009 China-Korea-Japan Robot Seminar to present their designs for the first unmanned aerial vehicle used for research at Zhongshan Station in Antartica. With an R&D team, the engineers combined the technologies of their autopilot and robot technologies to develop a new type of self-balancing electric vehicle.

Ninebot Inc. branch locations include Hong Kong, Beijing, and Tianjin, where teams are constantly innovating to find new means of short distance transportation.

I wound up with two Segway S2 scooters because another vendor had a flash sale that was way cheaper. I rapidly discovered that Segway won't take any returns if it is on sale, charges you 15% restocking fee otherwise, and makes you pay return shipping. I wrote Segway to complain, and they didn't bother responding.

I had an S1, which is the slower less fancy version of the Scooter I ordered, and it had a QC issue. Without getting into all the details, it has some kind of short in it and will not work with the extended battery. It didn't take long to fail, although it was otherwise a really useful device for commuting.

Newegg is a fantastic vendor- you can trust them with any product they sell in directly. I'd avoid doing business with Segway/ninebot though.

Then when it shipped on 10/26th, the package still had the old address. I contacted New Egg, they said they could send and email and did and copied me. I left a voice mail at ninebot and contacted newegg support. Newegg cc'd me on email from newegg support to ninebot.

No contact, so on 10/29 I created a complaint:
Will be delivered to old address tomorrow. I was told on the Oct 23rd that delivery address had been changed. I was notified on Friday 26th that FedEx had picked up package. FedEx tracking page No one has changed to correct address. I am dissapointed that New Egg Support could only send Ninebot an email on friday. I left voicemail and sent new support request to ninebot. Please fix, If delievered to GA and not Tx, I'll cancel and contact Card Co and comment on both comps online.

I received an email the next day (10/30) from ninebot:

No response........ Nothing, I set up a case with Fed Ex and they told me , NO ONE HAD CONTACTED THEM REGARDING THIS ORDER. AFTER 3 DAYS OF TALKING TO FEDEX, FINALLY A FEDEX GUY HAD THE COURAGE TO TELL ME, THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO, IT HAD TO BE THE SHIPPER.

As far as I know it was an empty box that was shipped or a box with 2 stickers. The portal didn't really care and the seller LIED.

So I'm disputing the charge with the card company, (I have the email audit trail). And I'm going to post this on every consumer/review board to let people know how bad service is a TOP DOWN problem.

It's too bad, I wanted that thing, but now I'm glad I didn't get it, because the outfit doesn't care, so it probably reflects in the product.

My only complaint is the amount of time between when the order was placed and shipped (about 4 days). Other than that, everything was shipped and delivered as expected. The mini-pro had flat tires when it arrived and it would have been nice if the "quick start" guide would suggest checking the tire pressure (as tires do deflate over time) as one of the first steps.

I would highly recommend this seller. Good communication, easy to contact if needed, U.S. based company. Ordered a Ninebot E+ which arrived very quickly with free shipping. This was right before Christmas. Being too busy with the holidays, it was about 4 days later, right before New Years, that I finally got a chance to check out the new Ninebot. I had taken everything out of the shipping boxes and visually inspected it but not a thorough examination. The boxes had no signs of mishandling, so it looked like all was okay. The tire was not inflated, so I watched some YouTube videos to make sure on how to do it. After removing the light ring to gain access to the window to inflate the tire, I found that the inner case panel had a crack, split on both sides of the access window. I contacted Ninebot U.S. support via their email, and sent them pictures, the New Egg invoice, and a description of what I had found. Again this was during the holidays when most companies are either closed, or very under staffed. I was able to call and talk to Al and he took care of the problem immediately. It was something he had never seen before and I agreed that it was odd because there was no signs of damage to the outer cover that would point to how it was cracked/split. He said they would send me a new one once it had been removed from the box and examined to make sure it was good. The next day I received an email with an RA to return the defective one, and a tracking number for the new replacement. I would like to add that there was a few times when I tried to reach them by phone and it went to voice mail, but if you have some patients, and work with people, you will usually have a good outcome. Having said all of this I would like to thank Al, and Ninebot U.S. for a very good experience overall. Again, patients and common sense goes a long way.

No I would not. Should have gone direct through the manufacturer. They never delivered and had no options when I called with plenty of time to still get in time for Christmas. Just referred me to a number that had no answer. Did not receive until a week after Christmas. Very dissatisfied.

Be patient with your body. This took me about 5 days to be able to get up, and stay up just long enough to get up to full speed and then crash land. It was on day 6 I was able to get up, spin about, and stop without crashing. Day 7 I was able to better turn, stop properly, and get over things like bumps and whatnot. I didn't spend any more than 90 minutes on it each day. I did a little, getting a little better each time. This is going to be a challenge, but don't throw in the towel when you still can't keep it upright for more than a few feet on day 3. I'm 43, 180 lbs, and wouldn't say I'm especially fit or especially spatially talented. I've never skateboarded either, so, take that as my starting point. I'm up to ridin' around for 90 minutes and not having to stop, while doing turns, just having fun. It's been a great purchase for me. Very rewarding. You will discover muscles in your legs you never knew you had. Plaster the thing with blue pads it comes with for your first week, so the pads and take the beating and not your cycle. Mine's all beat up, but whatever. ;-)

Turning bonus money into fun is what I do best... lol! The Ninebot One unicycle is a blast. It only took me about an hour to get the hang of it. I'm still learning the moves to make it more fluid like on my two wheeler. It goes fast enough so that you feel the wind in your face. Get one!

Restocking fee was listed at $0.00 until I shipped it then changed to $60.00. I'm very upset over this!!

In our return memo to customer, we indicated to the customer "Ensure that your return includes the original retail product box, all documentation, manuals, etc.. Do not write on the product, manuals, or retail box. Do not use the retail box as a shipping carton. A 15% restock fee will apply if used." The product was return to us used and scratched, therefore the restocking fee was justified. We've took photos of the received product as well for proof.

I did a lot of research before I bought my Ninebot One and most people mentioned needing to purchase an after-market valve extender and padding. The Ninebot that I got had both of those items included in the packaging! I'm extremely impressed by their thoughtfulness and service. Would highly recommend!

I ordered a product from this seller. The product was totally unreliable, so I returned it. The product was returned in its original packaging. Fortunately, I had returned it using USPS which had a tracking number. The seller could/would not acknowledge receipt until I furnished them the tracking number. Yes, the product was delivered and accepted by their receptionist.

They have been slow in issuing me a credit for my purchase. I would not buy from them again for two reasons mentioned in this rating.

This machine was more than I expected and I am very pleased with it. There are things I would like to see, however. The manual was written by someone who translated it to English quite well - but not well enough to make it easy to read and understand. To sell well in the American market I believe that it needs further attention. All display readings are in meters and kilometers. Changing the software to reflect values used in this market seems to me to be a rather small but very important improvement.
