Question 1

How comfortable are these for someone with a big head+glasses? I broke my last headset because of the size difference.

Also what is the durability/life expectancy for this headset?

Bought these for my son and before the warranty ran out the headband cracked. Also the co-worker who recommended them to me had his crack shortly after the recommendation (sigh).

However, my son absolutely loves these. Says they make games sound awesome and he finds them comfortable (but he doesn't wear glasses so I don't know if that helps you). You should read the reviews. I think most people find them comfortable, but if you google "GameCom 780 cracked broke headband" you will see there is definitely an issue with these.

So if you don't mind buying a new pair every 6-12 months, you will probably enjoy them very much. Otherwise, you may want to look at something else.

I personally wish Plantronics could fix the cracked headband by using some other material or design. My son has been super careful with these (since we learned about the flaw shortly after we bought them). Still, I don't look forward to buying another pair when the headband eventually cracks on the warranty replacement pair.

I will say Plantronics was very good about the warranty replacement (as opposed to what I've heard from other reports).

Question 2

Does this headset also work as a xbox 360 headset? Since it is for pc and connects with a usb, can it also work for xbox?

I don't think so, as xbox headsets require the cable from the controller to an adapter, and the cord of this headset is just a straight usb cable, no adapter. So I'd have to say more than likely no.

Question 3

7.1 surround is terrible on a two speaker headset. Can the headphones be switched to 2.1 stereo?

I know the 7.1 can be switched off by pressing the blue button on the left ear cup.  i think it goes to 5.1 i think it was?

the 7.1 is not true 7.1 but it does have some high bass so for shooters its awesome. i have it and recommend it

Question 4

Hello, I just bought this headset and love it, but there's one problem: sometimes the volume slider and button doesn't work. Any way to fix this?

The volume slider often does not seem worth the effort to use.  Every time I have used that portion of it the volume does not change much so if I really need to change the volume I use the one in windows.  It does help fine tune the volume once you get it close to a level that you want but really I would only recommend it for that is for fine tuning and not changing it drastically.  There may be a setting to change how much it changes the volume but I have never bothered to look.

...Otay, here's one for them thar non-gaming geeks out thar: does this work with a usb 2.0 notebook? Aloso, howabout with any sort of speech to text? Sure, I play FPS games, but unreal goty is about as recent as I still get in my old age ;-)

You should be fine, it does come with drivers, at least mine did, they ate still plug and play, but to get the most out of em, use the drivers.
  Haven't tried voice to text, but the mic is excellent from what I can tell... abd in my opinion the most underrated headphones out there for the bang for buck category.

What is the weight of the headset?

14.4 ounces. They are about medium weight compared to other headsets. Definitely better sounding than Siberia V2, HOWEVER, they are not as comfortable after an hour of wearing. You will get used to this after a month of wearing, so these are the better choice.

Does anyone know if this headset has dota 2 strap and gamecode in it like as shown on youtube?

Is this used or brand new out of the box? Also, Why is this cheaper than the other Plantronics GameCom 780. It seems there are multiple ones all for different prices everywhere, on this site and other ones.

I'm on my third Plantronics Gamecom 780. That headband is kind of cheap.

That said, I just bought this same model, and can confirm that it comes new, in box.
