does it come with toner?

Yes, mine came with the usual started cartridge which lasted a few hundred prints if I remember correctly. I've tried several printers for our home, and this one is a keeper, very satisfied.

Does it copy? Does it scan? does it FAX?

Yes it copies & scans. No, it does not offer fax. This printer is absolutely awesome. It's easy to install and connect to wirelessly without the usual difficulties experienced by other printers. It'll  scan and easily save it to whatever computer you want it saved to...as a pdf or jpg image file, etc. I'd buy another one if I had a need for it. You won't go wrong on this one.

Is the duplexing automatic on this printer?

is it mac compatable?

Yes. Mac recognizes the printer and downloads drivers automatically. I use it with mac over wifi without problem

It will print A4,Letter,A5,A5 L,A6,Executive,Legal and Folio according to manual.
11x17 is usually called Tabloid which is not in that list.

Can it scan wirelessly so that it does not need to be attached to any computer?  Printer is WiFi.  Is scanning also Wifi?

Yes, scanning can be done using wifi setup. Simply load the brother software to your computer. You can then scan from the button on the machine or use the scan button on the screen in the brother utility. The machine comes with CD for windows for macs you can download the utility (it's address is given in the setup instructions).

I am not familiar with Windows 10. It works with Macintosh OS 10.10.5 and Windows 8.

My suggestion would be to go to the Brother support webpage and see if they have Windows 10 drivers. If it was not compatible, then the support page would note it.

Either way, you always want to download the latest drivers from the support page to make sure your printer settings are compatible with your OS.
