Does this work with comcast?

A router will work with any internet provider. It's the CABLE MODEM that your router will be connected to that has to be compatible with your internet provider. So my two AC86Us (1 as router, 1 as access point) are connected to an Ariss SB8200 cable modem. I am on Comcast and that modem is on their supported list.

Question 2

Can this router support full speed symmetric gigabit fiber internet connections?

Yes it can. I had just upgraded my internet to 1g/1g recently and was the reasoning for the purchase of this router. My old one didn't have the processing power to give me the full speeds, and this one did. However, as a disclaimer, you typically get just a bit under 1g speeds up/down with Verizon FiOS (if that is what you are using) no matter the router, so realistically closer to 840/840 on a wired connection to the router. My old router only got 300down/500up on the 1g connection, so it was still a major improvement for me.

Is this router capable of serving as an access point with another router as the main device managing the WIFI?

Yes, this can act as an access point. I am using it like that. The difference is that I am using it as a "wired" access point as opposed to a wireless access point.

If it is another recent Asus router managing this access point, then the wireless with this router will be seamless (as in it will have the same SSID etc.). Asus calls it AIMesh.

Does this router have the ability to turn off SIP/AIG? My current does not and its effectively blocked my VOIP Phone.

To be honest I am not that technical ref. SIP/AIG. But what I can tell you is my router works with my VOIP company RingCentral. If it was me I would contact the VOIP company and ask which might work best with them.

Is this device capable of installing third-party firmware (e.g. Tomato, DD-WRT)?

I am not for sure it will except all third party firmware, however I know it works with Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware. Seems to works really well.
