Can  you install Microsoft office?

Three things:

- As mentioned before, you have Google Docs. Great for quick document processing, but terrible when the document has to be used outside of Google Docs as well. There's an extension for Office Compatibility, but I'm not a fan of that either.

- If you're willing, you could put the device in beta: it currently has Android integration in beta, and you can download Microsoft Office Apps for Android. However, again, there are significant transition issues with that - considering that Android is in a wrapper and MSWord Mobile does not allow Google Drive syncing without a premium 365 account.

- Your third option, which is by far my favorite, is using Chrome Remote Desktop to remote into a Windows/Mac computer and utilize the applications remotely. Of course, this requires you to have one of those computers to begin with. If this is going to be your make or break decision in getting this Chromebook, then I suggest you get a Windows PC. You can usually get one around the same price with similar specs (exception to the processor).

(The fourth option, which I do not recommend, is actually installing another OS on the device - which will require significant technical experience - but if that's your forte, do as you please at your own risk.)

I'm a photographer, can adobe lightroom 5 and other programs be installed on it and will they work?

In theory, yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. This laptop supports the Google Play Store, so you could install the Android version of Adobe apps. They probably won't run very well as the specs of this laptop are lower than most modern smart phones. The display also won't give you a true-to-life image due to the inaccurate colors. The resolution is also quite small for editing or viewing images which will likely have way more pixels than this screen can display.

THIS SHOWS IT HAS HDMI PORT?  OK,,,, IS IT REGULAR OR MINI HDMI? AND CAN I CONNECT A CABLE TO HDMI
AND DISPLAY ON A MONITOR WITH A HDMI INPUT?  WHAT RESOLUTION WILL IT SHOW ON THE MONITOR? 
HOW LONG A CABLE WILL IT WORK UP TO,,,, 100 FT , 50 FT. 30FT, 20 FT.....????

uses regular hdmi. 1536x864 max resolution woks on fine with my 12 ft cable but you should not have a problem with any length cable. or just get a chromecast.

Is RAM expandable to 8 GB?

No. Research reveals that this model comes with either 2Gb or 4Gb and the module is soldered onto the motherboard.

Can you upgrade the SSD -16 GB to a 120 GB or is it hardwired?

Unfortunately everything you see here is what you get: everything appears hardwired. However, as long as you Powerwash the Chromebook, you should be able to get 100 GB additional in Google Drive - and if that's not enough, you can always purchase an external 3.0 drive/drive enclosure.
