It does have a spot to put a string lanyard through.  Like this [Search newegg for "EP Memory NECKSTRAP Neckstrap Lanyard for USB Flash Drive"  they won't let me post a link to there own products]   I'm not sure if you could fit a metal loop through it.

what is the difference between the 2.0 and 3.0 ?

The difference is in the speed data can be transferred to/from the drive. You need a USB 3.0 port to take full advantage of the speed. Theoretically speaking USB 2 is 60 megabyte, whereas USB 3 is 640 megabyte per second. Your results may vary as reading and writing data from devices causes different speeds (like copying from a harddrive or direct download from internet) etc.

Question 3

Why do these drive go into read only modes and become unusable?  I would not advise anyone to attempt disk copy with these based on my current experience.

These are based on flash memory.  As with any flash memory, it has a finite amount of read/write cycles.  Over time the memory degrades and you end up with an unusable drive.  It all depends on how used the drive is and how it's made.  SanDisk is usually good about high quality.  I have one that's lasted about 5 years now.  That one is a static disk and has very few read/writes to it though.  Sometimes you can use software to re-enable the write access to the drive but once this becomes degraded, it's better to get a new one.

Question 4

is or can this drive be formatted in fat 32 ? ,,,
I bought the 64Gb, but it can only be formatted in ex-fat,,

which my car radio won't recognize,,,

I bought this recently, it came as FAT32.

I'm pretty sure you can format the 64GB one as FAT32, just not with the standard Windows function. There are some freeware utilities that can format and change partitions; sorry, but I don't remember which one I used.

read/write speed and file format?

I believe the file format is whatever you want. 
Format or for a Mac or pc.  Read/ write speeds are advertised at 130MB/s, but I've never tested the speed to verify this.   It is USB 3, and very fast data transfers.
