What comes in the box?  One review mentioned cables included?

The monitor and its stand (obviously). It included a displayport and HDMI cable. The cables were about 6' each. I may replace them since they barely reach my PC.

How many wats does the USB-C output? (i.e. Can I charge my MacBook pro on it)

This works with the 15in MBP w/ Touchbar and Radeon Pro 460. It doesnt fast charge like the macbook charger cable, but it does charge at a decent rate.

Charging battery does not deplete when rendering 4k A7S footage in AE/PP! This was one i thing worried about because a youtube review of the apple recommended LG display had mentioned it was an issue with early display monitors.

what graphics card should one use with this monitor?

I would highly recommend a newer card with quite a bit of vram to have for buffer. I run mine with a 1080 TI, but even a 1070 would do okay as well.

I wouldn't recommend a 1060 or 480, as they won't offer up a smooth gaming experience at this resolution.

Can I drive this display from a new MacBook Pro using USB C?  From the spec it is unclear if it supports USB C for video input...

Yes, you can.  I plugged my Galaxy S8 into the USB C port and it immediately displayed my phone's screen on the huge IPS panel.

Why no one talking in reviews about HDR in this model?

"Speaking of which, it is well-stocked with DisplayPort in and out, USB-C, and two HDMI 2.0 inputs. One has MHL 2.1, and both are HDCP 2.2 compliant. This makes it ready to use with Ultra HD sources like streaming boxes and Blu-ray players. The XR382CQK does not support HDR at this time."

Not sure about HDR, even though it claims it's  'ready'.
