Question 1

There appears to be a jumper on the board to select  "ide to sata" or "sata to ide". The ide and sata pins are for an ide motherboard to sata device. How do you do the reverse (i.e sata motherboard to ide device)?  Different bridge?

Kingwin only markets it for Sata devices to IDE boards, but I was the same thing you did... You can try setting the jumper for "ide to sata" and see if it works for you. Not a lot of documentation on that product. I was never able to get this product to work for me, and it limits your Sata device to 1.5 Gbs. I also purchased this product. Getting 3 Gbs with SATA SSE drives on IDE boards. Question 2

When connected to a SATA HDD and and IDE MOBO, will the device allow booting from the SATA HDD. I have an older Dell with IDE only and would like to upgrade to a SATA HDD......If this device does not allow booting, it is of no use to me. please advise...?

Yes, the bridge board worked seamlessly. The system booted from the SATA HD with no problems. I was very satisfied with the performance of the bridge.

Can this be used on an IDE interfaced laptop so I can use a SATA SSD drive instead of an old IDE drive?

Hi,
I'm so sorry for the late (extremely late) answer but as per your question, the device works fine.

However, mine was used in a desktop computer. It will not work in a laptop due to the very basic fact that it will not physically fit.

If you've already disassembled your laptop in the past, you have seen the tiny compartment in which the hard drive resides. A drive with this device attached, although it technically will work, won't go into the compartment.

Again, I'm sorry for the late reply as I'm sure it's too late now to influence your question as to whether to purchase or not.

Can you provide a cut-sheet of how to install this device?

I do not have a cut-sheet for installation but, it is pretty self-explanatory.  Basically turns a SATA drive into an IDE drive.  The bridge plugs into the SATA drive and is held in place with an adhesive strip...install as an IDE drive.

Is it possible to put 2 of these on 1 ide cable? For instance I need to install 2 sata hard drives would it work on the one ide cable the board I'm using has 2 ide slots 1 for hd and other for cdrom which I will also be upgrading to sata with one of these so all together I would need 3 that is if 2 will work on one ide cable
