Is this card backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0 x16 slot?

Accepted Answer

Yes... BUT you need to keep in mind that 3.0 cards are designed to be supported by a bandwidth that’s 60-100% faster than that of a 2.0 slot. If you’re running the card at stock speeds, it SHOULD work fine. I make no guarantees. If you’re planning on playing with voltage/memclock/GPU clock/etc. then I’d consider upgrading.

I have purchased this gpu, but it does not fit my motherboard. I am looking for recommendations on motherboards, cpus, and possibly RAM. I have a pretty tight budget of around $300, but I would like recommendations even if they are over my budget. Thank you.

If I had a tight budget for the above mentioned pieces, I'd take a look into the i3-6100 intel processor for the choice of CPU; very good budget choice even for mid 720p-1080p gaming. It costs around $130~ with taxes, pair it up with an Asus H110M-K decent motherboard, around $70. Does the job but you can look at some other mobos at the $120-150 range like the asus z170, or gigabyte z170 gaming 3~.  Best choice of RAM at this category (considering brand and price) would be the Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB at 2133 mHZ this would cost you around $60.  This would leave you with a total of around $270~ tops, (330~ with more expensive motherboard) and you'd have a magnificent mid-budget build. Hope I helped :)

Question 3

On the PNY website, the product brochure for this card lists the CUDA Cores at 1152 and specifically states SLI is not supported.  So is this particular listing by newegg purposely misleading, or merely an accident?

All 1060s DO NOT have 1280 cores.  The 6GB versions have 1280 cores, the 3GB versions have 1152 cores by default (according to the NVidia website).  This card is listed with 1152 on the PNY site as well, so this is almost certainly an unintentional error on the NewEgg site.  The images are also pretty clear that there is no SLI since there is no connector for hardware SLI on the card.

Question 4

I recently bought this version of 1060 3gb, and I was wondering if anyone else was getting 83C at full load on the gpu? At Idles at 37-40C. Is it just me or is this suppose to be normal? I'm pretty sure my airflow is well also.
