It has only one of each of the following outputs so consider your monitors' available inputs:  Displayport, DVI, and HDMI.  For many people having one of each is the less versatile option but the most versatile for driving only one display, or two with an HDMI to DVI or DVI to HDMI adapter, which I vaguely recall may be included.

am planning to buy a ASUS z87 Pro mobo and i7 4770k but plan to buy a good graphics card later in 2014.

Given the above scenario, is this card any better than the onboard (or rather, on-chip) intel graphics (for the interim)?

3-4x faster. But for the price you would be better to game on the integrated and but something better than this. Why set yourself back? The integrated will play ok with low settings and antialiasing off. Not amazingly beautiful but : function before beauty. ..sometimes..
