NEW DUAL-X COOLING

SAPPHIRE

2x 95 mm
Fans

NITRO Free
Flow

Redesigned airflow

10%
quieter

Than previous cooler

SAPPHIRE's acclaimed Dual-X Cooling is powered by two massive yet silent fans and state-of-the-art radiator design. The new form of our 95 mm blades means greater airflow and superior heatsink coverage at lower noise compared to standard cooling designs. With NITRO Free Flow, we’ve redesigned the airflow of the entire card and board, so that the hot air is expelled through the system fan instead, rapidly dissipating heat.

FREEING THE FLOW

SAPPHIRE SAPPHIRE

In traditional graphics cards cooling design, some of the hot air hits the side case of the chassis and bounces back to the fan inlet, increasing the working temperature over time. Now with the NITRO Free Flow, that hot air is pushed out through the vents on the backplate, reducing the bounce back effects to minimum.

MINIMUM NOISE, MAXIMUM RELIABILITY

Two 95 mm fans with advanced airfoil section blades provide more powerful yet quieter cooling versus smaller standard fans. With dust-repelling dual ball bearings, Dual-X offers exceptional reliability.

SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon™ RX 480 fans use our Quick Connect system. That means they’re easy to remove, clean and replace, with just one screw holding them securely in place.

Intelligent Fan Control III

SAPPHIRE
ZERO DB COOLING

Enjoy complete silence under light workloads with entirely passive cooling. No spinning fans means no distractions while you work or chill.

NITRO COOL TECH

With the new NITRO Cool Tech you can set precise start and stop temperatures for your card’s fans, to smartly balance performance against fan noise.

NITRO GLOW

The graphics card is more than just another component; it’s the beating heart of your gaming system. It should look as good as it costs. With tasteful shroud design augmented by RGB LEDs, each card is practically a piece of art.

SAPPHIRE

You can even change the colours of the LED, for your own customized design. This can be controlled via software using the latest version of SAPPHIRE’s Overclocking Utility TriXX 3.0, or through hardware by pressing the red button on the back of your SAPPHIRE NITRO Gaming Series card. You can choose from a set of five different modes including Fan Speed Mode, GPU Temperature Mode or the colourful rainbow mode. If you prefer, LEDs can also be turned off.

Good performance but just an ok card. Oh, and It ust died.

Pros: Good performance out of the box (when not throttling),great for 1080p 60+ FPS gaming.
Very nice looking card with backplate.

Cons: Purchased 11/30/16. Did I mention it just died? No image to display, black screen only and fans don't spin.
It's loud, hot and could not sustain the advertised 1342MHz boost clock often down clocking to stay under 80c as default fan profile was to lax and would constantly hit thermal limits. Increasing the fan speed would help some but at the cost of being very loud since they had to be turned way up because the heat sink used is to small with few fins and pipes a problem they recognized and fixed with the RX 580. My case is a Rosewill Blackhawk with very good airflow so that is not the cause of the overheating.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend the this product to other people.
I would not purchase this again.

Awesome

Pros: Every game I have I turn graphics up to max (21' monitor). And the card absolutely performs.

Cons: Can get a little noisy.

Other Thoughts: This is absolutely a great card. I've had this one for well over a year now. It's done extremely well.

Worthless card that quickly was gone and re-named.

Pros: none.

Cons: High priced paperweight. Crashed old computer. Won't let a new build start up.

Other Thoughts: Poor customer service from Sapphire. Would give it 0 eggs if I could.

OK, but not great

Pros: -Neat LED on card
-Price
-Can get you started with VR

Cons: -Had graphical issues in a few games that cleared up when I moved to a 1070
-Died after 18 months, while sitting in pause menu for Wolfenstein New Colossus
-RMA (return) seems like it will not work because Sapphire expects a serial number in the receipt, no one does this

Other Thoughts: -If they give me grief during this RMA then I will not buy Sapphire again

Fantastic card for the price... before it dies

Pros: Runs most games on max settings at 60+ frames on 1080p
Temps are fine, 75-82 Celsius for me, even during stress tests
It's purrrrty

Cons: Limitations become apparent on graphically demanding games
Died after 18 months

Other Thoughts: I've tested both Metro games, BF1 beta, No Man's Sky, and Overwatch so far on this card and haven't had any issues. I use closed ear headphones so I can't really give any input on how noisy this card is, as I can't hear it regardless. Upgrading from 2x crossfire 270x's, this card is a godsend. I no longer have to choose between a high framerate and high graphics settings.

The backplate and LED light are nice touches. This is a very aesthetically pleasing card.

Be aware that, especially on the higher end of graphics settings, this card can't handle everything. I've had to play with some of the settings in the Metro 2033 games in order to maintain a smooth framerate, and that's just at 1080p. However, when faced with the choice between a 1060 that costs $50 more at the moment, this card is the clear choice. You won't regret it unless you absolutely must max out everything, or want top-notch 1440p gaming.

Edit: I made this review a while back, when the card still worked. It randomly died on me while playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance. This was the best GPU I've ever owned and I think I got my money's worth out of it, but buyer beware.

Amazing while it lasted

Pros: As advertised, 60fps on ultra 1080p. A few settings might need to be dropped to high, but you get amazing value from this card.

Cons: Despite me never overclocking the card, it died a little after a year. I'm a fool for not buying an extended warranty, and for trusting Sapphire despite their reputation.

Other Thoughts: The 480 is a great card. Sapphire's unreliable aftermarket varient, not so much.

Great card up until 2 weeks ago when it unexpectedly died on me

Pros: It really removed the bottle neck I was suffering when upgrading from Sapphire Radeon HD 7800. I can now run most games I own on ultra/epic settings. Feels good man

Cons: I was in the middle of an Overwatch match when it suddenly shut down and my computer with it. Tried it in a different slot on my motherboard in case my PCIe 16x slot died but it didn't do anything. Fortunately I still had my HD 7800 as backup. I got this Oct of last year and it died 2 days after the 1 year mark. No tell tale smell, nothing. I don't OC it myself, just whatever is factory. Newegg couldn't RMA it as it was outside the 30 days so I reached out to Sapphire and i sent it on Nov 2nd. They updated me today that the replacement has arrived from Hong Kong and once it clears customs, should be shipped today.

Other Thoughts: Except for the fact that it died unexpectedly on me, the card has run well and done me well for any games I have. Baring this replacement biting the pooch as well, I'd definitely recommend this card again.

Strike Two... replacement has video but crashes in new build (X399 versus my old X58)

Pros: HDMI connectors worked with 4k monitor and 1900X1200 IPS monitor.

Cons: Update: still flaky with Win 10 Pro 64 bit, Ryzen 1950X, ASRock Taichi mobo and 32 Gig of memory. Thought it was the UEFI Bios, as Sapphire's web page states that it's the only type supported, but it seems to be another bad card. Older video card works fine (new and old build). At least the boot time was quicker on my new build. Crashes more frequently with the 4k monitor being used and/or with multiple apps running.

Replacement kinda works. Need UEFI BIOS to use the card. This should be right up there in the description. Card freezes up regularly / AMD driver has to reset. Boot time is minutes. Some software takes longer to run and/or have problems. I was waiting to upgrade the processor and motherboard, but I thought I'd pick this up first. Did not think and X58 motherboard wouldn't be able to run a video card like this since PCIe 3.0 is supposed to be backward compatible with PCIe 2.0. Will be swapping back the older card until I get my new setup.

Original card (non-working): Both DP didn't work with 3 different cables and in two different computers... even with BIOS screen while booting. Monitor DP worked with when old card plugged back in. Box had previously been opened... Sapphire tape had been peeled back and was dirty.

Other Thoughts: Update: Second card has problems just like the first. Typically purchase Sapphire video cards for family builds and for replacement parts on other computers that I repair/upgrade. Will no longer be the case. Not worth the hassle if the quality is that bad. Used to work for an audio firm with product made in the P.R.C. with questionable quality... seems like Sapphire opted for the bottom line too.

Paying $40 in shipping to RMA an open box card that doesn't work properly. Will change review when I get my replacement card.
