Would this be a good monitor for Xbox one s?  I want to get the most out of my online gaming, but don't want to  much overkill..

From everything I can see, the xbox one s is able to perform at 4k but not at 1080p with 144hz. It is just not designed for it. Now I am not a console gamer and I may be wrong, so just getting this monitors younger brother at 60hz will save you money and still get the same experience. Although its younger brother only runs through DVI and VGA... At this point, just buy a decent TV, or if you have the money a 4k TV, as that console was intended to upscale to it.

It does not unfortunately. But like most speakerless monitors it does have an audio  port for separate speakers

is the hdmi connection 1.3 or higher? because if it is not you can't get 144hz on hdmi 1.2 or lower right?

Accepted Answer

No, the HDMI is NOT 1.3, so you may only use DVI-D for 144 mhz, which IMO DVI cables are better than HDMI for 1080p gaming. Here's a really good article that explains the differences, it all depends on HOW you want to game. It won't let me post a link, but it's an article on avadirect.

It says the monitor height without the stand is 11". Is this right?

That is incorrect. The monitor height, without the stand is 15 and 1/4 inch.  The height with the stand is 17 and 1/2 inch on the light side.  I own this monitor and I love it for my gaming and streaming!

how are you supposed to get 144 hz with an hdmi or dvi port???

This monitor when first hooked to any pc will default to 60hz.  To turn it up to anything higher, right click on your desktop and click screen resolution.  This will bring up a list of monitors hooked to your pc and their sizes/ orientations.  click on the numbered monitor that corresponds to the the 144hz screen (if you can't figure out which one it is, press the identify button, it will flash the screen numbers up on all screens hooked to your pc) then click the words "advanced settings." This brings up properties for your graphics adapter.  Click the monitor tab at the top of the screen, and in the center of that tab will be a drop down box that says "Screen Refresh Rate" and  a list of available frequencies will appear.  Select 144hz and enjoy!

is the hdmi port 1.3 or higher? because if it is 1.2 you only get 60hz on hdmi right?

This monitor does not support 60Hz on HDMI, nor on VGA -- in order to run at 144Hz you would need to use the Dual-Link DVI cable (which is included)  and connect it to a DVI port on your graphics card.

Have two of these Acer monitors. Want 144hz on both, only have one DVI-D out on my GPU. What do?

On this monitor it seems as though you can't. I wanted a triple monitor gaming set up all running identical monitors at identical settings. Oh No, so I contacted Acer as I tried a DP to DVI cable and only achieved 60Hz, other two monitors are connected via DVI to DVI and are at 144Hz. Acer Chat said cable MUST be DVI to DVI to achieve 144Hz. I did a search and the only graphic cards that support 3 DVI connections are GTX7xx or older. Nice.

No, it does not.   It's "3D Ready", not a 3D monitor, so you need to use the NVIDIA 3D kit or similar.
