3440 x 1400 @144hz with HDMI?

No, the max is 75hz. Does have HDR through hdmi only. HDR=No Free Sync, MPRT=No Free Sync, it’s like an either or situation for those options, but free sync is good while gaming, as is the MPRT if you use VSync instead. HDR good for movies. Over all a great monitor! I’m loving mine for movies and games, plus great screen area for work!

What is new about the XR2 series (UM.CX2AA.003) vs the older models (UM.CX2AA.002 and UM.CX2AA.001)?

Manufacturers don't often make it easy to differentiate between iterations of the same model. Here are a couple of differences I have noticed by comparing specs, there are likely to be more but these grabbed my attention.  HDR doesn't seem to be advertised on the XR model ending 001. Also the newer models might have faster response time, I say might because for 001 it was expressed as 5ms GTG and in the newer its 1MS MPRT. I can't speak for the equivalence but I have read MPRT is a more precise measurement. Bought mine in 2016 and have been quite frustrated trying to figure out what has changed without the benefit of any official word. Maybe somebody with better investigative skills can shed some light, in the interim hope this helps.
