Hey guys so after all i did buy this monitor. Now im running it with dvi connection. I am only getting 59hertz ingame, how do i get to 120 or 144?

I did the same thing when I got mine.  You have to use a DisplayPort cable and a graphics card that is compatible with Freesync.  I have a Radeon 290X and I have no problem getting to 120Hz.  Make sure you change the monitor setting to 120Hz or 144Hz in the Control Panel too.

what does the red button do on the side of the monitor?

It's a headphone/headset hanger.  When you push it, it releases an arm which extends three inches.  I use it to hang up my gaming headset.  It's a nice feature to have.

Will this monitor be Windows 10 compatible?  Is BenQ planning to come out with 4k gaming monitor anytime soon?  Thank you

Hello there! To answer your question regarding the monitor working with Windows 10... I can't imagine there would be any issues there. As far as 4k, I don't believe BenQ has one currently and I can't say I have heard anything regarding such a product, but I haven't taken the time to check. I would just get this monitor over a 4k to be honest. Its fantastic and 2k at 144hz is beautiful. I highly recommend it.

What about Input requirements? Are you still able to run 144hz with a HDMI cable or do you need to use something else?

You can use anything in terms of input. You may need an adapter, but anything will work. But if you want to use freesync, you need to use displayport.

Can I use this monitor with my pc that has nvidia graphics?

This can be used with an nvidia card but it will not take advantage of the freesync technology.
you will need a gsync compatible monitor to get the similar technology of synchronizing the monitor to your applications FPS

I keep seeing reference that you have to use AMD to use @ 144hz. Is this the case? I am running dual gtx 790m sli on my laptop. Just curious what the best I will get from this is. Seems if active sync is required, I might as well just look at any 60hz monitor.

You don't need an AMD card to run 144Hz.  But you do need a video output that can support 144Hz such as Dual Link DVI or DisplayPort output.  Most laptops cannot support 144Hz to an external monitor mainly because it is using the Intel IGPU to drive external monitors while the GTX 970m drives the laptop's built in display.

What "TN" mean when referring to a monitor?

(Twisted Nematic) is the most common technology and also the oldest. The main advantage is that it provides the shortest response times, making themgood for gaming. In combination with LED back-lighting, TN monitors also offer high brightness and draw less power than competing technologies. Another important factor is that they are cheap to manufacture, resulting in low prices for end users.

The drawbacks to the technology is the color shifts that occur at wider viewing angles. There are large differences in quality between different products, but the lower-end ones will exhibit color shift even at moderate angle changes. A TN-based display can usually be identified through these color distortions when viewing the picture from above or from the sides.

What display port gets the best result for 144hz refresh rate?  Display Port, HDMI or DVI?  I wasn't sure if there were pros and cons or one particular port that is the best.  Can someone enlighten me on this?  Thanks!

In order to get the 144 Hz refresh rate you must use Display Port.  Also, make sure your graphics card is compatible with Adaptive-Sync.  I believe that's an AMD-only thing so you need an AMD graphics card.

I know it's a 144hz monitor but can you change the refresh rate naitivly in settings? I have seen a few others that you can change from 144 to 120 and 60hz. Does this one offer other refresh rate settings? if so what refresh rates does it offer? thanks.

Yes, you can definitely change the refresh rate natively in settings. You can use 1440p at anything over 60Hz only with DisplayPort interface. If you're using DisplayPort (if you're getting this monitor, you better be using DisplayPort), you may see what I see as available refresh rate options:

144Hz
120Hz
119Hz
100Hz
60Hz
59Hz

Question 10

Is this monitor shipped with the latest V002 firmware? Is an R9290 sufficient to run at above average settings at 2560 X 1440 resolution?
Finally my eye sight is ok but not great. I will have to enlarge the text to probably +1.35. For those that increase text size, does applications & internet browsing look good. Thanks appreciate the help before I spend this much.

Hey rod, I couldn't be happier with this monitor. The pixel density and sync hz  refresh rate is perfect. I'm not sure about the firmware but I got it when it was released but I haven't had any issues with v01. There is an option in either windows linux or Mac to scale the display software dpi. Yeah having Firefox on the website google might have ridiculous white blank sides. But then again I can two Firefox browser side by side with this monitor with no horizontal scrollbar. Maybe even 3.if you have r290 you can pretty much play any game multimedia  on ultra. Just make sure you disable vsync and anti-aliasing cause you don't need it
