Pretty Darn Good

Pros: - Huge
- Curved
- Pretty
- 165hz w/ OC + DP cable
- all the other specs
- no issues as far as dead pixels, and little to no backlight bleed for me tbh
- easy access to the settings with easy to understand options

Cons: - Aura Sync....you know the deal with this software & how buggy it can be
- Can't change the color of the light that shows on the desk (or so I think, idk Aura Sync isn't working for me atm)

Other Thoughts: - Aura Sync: to touch on this, I have an ASUS motherboard as well which I had before my monitor and I was able to control the lighting perfectly on the motherboard as I wanted with the Aura Sync software. I then got my monitor in the mail and plugged it all in etc, and now Aura Sync will not detect my motherboard at all so it's stuck on the default rainbow effect which isn't awful, just disappointing. And yes, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, the software, messing with BIOS settings....the works.
- I 100% recommend this monitor regardless!

Great pc screen!

Pros: This screen is large out of the box. It comes with a stable stand but I took it off since it does allow a mount. Sitting 3 feet from the screen makes the curve almost perfect. Love the FPS but even with a 1080 ti it is hard to reach the 165Hz on some games, so plenty of head room for growth. Thin bezel good for multi screen.

Cons: Sometimes I see a flicker in the screen during games. This flicker pulls you out of the game a little but easy to get over and not in all games. I partly expected the bezel to be as thin as the plastic outer ring but it has a little .25" lip of black in the screen. Not a big deal.

Mixed Feelings

Pros: - It's super nice having a 165 Hz refresh rate, it feels butter smooth
- Response times are great
- Overall it looks and feels nice to play on

Cons: - I am currently on my 2nd monitor, and 3rd panel, and i have been plagued with dead pixels on each one so far
- The colors are alright but look a little washed out
- It comes with some kind of anti-glare coating that makes the screen sparkly. Its nice i suppose, especially during the day. But at night, the sparkles become very noticeable, and at times it can be quite a bother.

Other Thoughts: - I would really like to give this monitor 5 stars, but this is now the third time I've gotten it back after RMA-ing it and having the same darn problem. It seems that the panels they use for this monitor have a high tenancy to get dead pixels (bright pixels in my case) They may be small in proportion to the rest of the screen, but if i'm going to be paying premium dollar for something, i expect premium quality. I have always liked asus products, but having to deal with this monitor has brought to question weather i would recommend their products to anyone, or if i will continue to purchase their products in the future.

Not all that impressed

Pros: -It is curved, so it helps some with viewing angle issues
-It has VESA 100 mm X 100 mm mount for those of who use mounting poles for multi-display setups (I have 3 in horizontal line)
-1 ms GTG high refresh rate, but the Nvidia control panel defaults to 60 Hz every time the driver updates
-Has the Asus Gameplus features, which are helpful sometimes, especially when you want to know where the dead center on your display is without optical illusions/effects throwing you off.
-Fast and responsive, but not quite as responsive as the PG278Q which this replaced for me (my PG278Q was damaged when a heavy object hit the display and shattered the screen.)

Cons: -The default color settings for this model are horrible, everything has a strong yellow or yellow-green wash depending on the mode selected and which of the other features are turned on. to be clear: When I say depending on mode and other features, I mean it is either a strong yellow wash or a strong yellow-green wash (the design engineer who made this decision should be shot, to make sure he/she never does it again. Note: this is rhetoric! Unlike Trump, I'm not actually endorsing violence.) I almost began a return and exchange process it is so bad. I thought the display's blue light filtering feature was not working, in that level 0 was not turning it off. See below for more info on correcting this.
-It is heavier than the other 27" displays I own.
-The documentation was a little lacking when it comes to accessing the screws to remove the base, so I could mount it to my poles.
-The top mounting screw cover requires too much force to remove. Some people won't be able to without hurting their fingers.
-Just not up to the standards usually expected of Asus gaming monitors.
The Aura LEDs are rather pointless. If using the base, the light at the bottom is distracting and because of the way the human eye adjusts to different light levels and light colors, it actually affects how the lower edge of the display is perceived. If not using the base, then they are completely pointless unless the display is positioned such that others may see the back of the display, even then, it's a "So what!" kind of thing. Just something that is both cosmetic and pointless, that on paper sounds cool and is used to help justify the higher price tag and generate more sales, but once seen, completely underwhelms. Sort of like a Mac or an I-phone: All flash and pomp for the new age yuppie, but utterly useless in the real world.
-Had I been able to try it before I bought it, I would have stuck to the tried and true PG278Q. The newer PG278QR is also advertised as being a blue light filtering display, so I would try to buy the Q not the QR, for fear of the same color issues. So far, the curve in the display, while helping with horizontal viewing angles, does nothing for vertical viewing angles and I can't see that it helps enough to be worth the extra money (but that is just my opinion, having owned and still having 2 other Asus flat panel 1 ms GTG 120+ Hz displays in use on my system.

Other Thoughts: -The documentation was a little lacking when it comes to accessing the screws to remove the base, so I could mount it to my poles. The covers are in 2 pieces and the bottom one was easy with a visible pry slot and it lifted right out. The top one, which is 4 times the size of the bottom one, had no visible pry slots and I didn't know how to get it off without damaging something. After watching a Youtube video, you can see how it's done and that info should have been in the documentation. Once the bottom cover is removed, you simply use your fingers and apply pressure on the exposed ends until it lifts out. I did this first, but not enough and I stopped for fear of breaking something. After watching the video, I realized that I stopped too soon and just needed to use more force.

- Color issues: To get to near correct calibration of the colors, you need to use the OSD and move into the color section. Bring the brightness up to 100. Then move to color temp. The default is warm, which, even on displays with correct color calibration, is yellow. If you select normal, then it improves but is still not correct. Choose user mode then apply the following settings: red-green-blue 78-79-100. Pay attention tp which display mode you are in. This is the setting for cinema mode. Each mode is a little different and will need to adjusted accordingly. But 78-79-100, 100 brightness is a good starting point for the other 5 modes. Fortunately, after making the adjustment for a display, choosing a different doesn't erase the adjustment, The adjustments remain stored for each mode as you switch through them.

Overall, I am a little disappointed in this display. I expected something more functional and certainly more accurate with the colors. This is so far off it should be fixed and recalled, giving everyone a free replacement or if it can be fixed with a firmware update, done soon. In my opinion, the color issues with display leave me extremely cautious and wary about buying any other Asus display with any kind of blue light filtering or low blue feature. I understand that some studies have linked artificial blue light from computer displays and TVs to macular degeneration, but this can be addressed voluntarily by users with options for blue light filtering or simply reducing the overall brightness while maintaining correct and calibrated color ratios, to preserve image quality. Just eliminating blue from a picture throws it off, destroying the visual experience for all.
