This monitor has control buttons located on the beveled bottom edge.  For multi-monitor arrays, for example a 2x2 or 2x3, with monitors stacked vertical, touching edge to edge, top to bottom, how difficult is it to access the control buttons that will be in a little wedge between monitors?  Fingers will not fit in there, so does Dell include some kind of a flat tool to access control buttons tucked away there in the wedge space between monitors?  it makes no sense to design a thin bezel monitor perfect for multi-monitor arrays, then place the control buttons on the bottom edge instead of the front, but what about the beveled bottom edge approach?

Accepted Answer

No tools are NOT included to access the buttons, although I suspect an edge of a credit card or something semi-rigid would work. Something to note, the bezel itself it slightly angle towards the front. Thus, the back edge of the frame will touch while the front will not, exposing the buttons just slightly.

Okay, so I only have a single monitor but this seemed like a really good question and I decided to give this a try. I essentially pressed the flat back side of my cellphone against the bottom of the monitor, and found that while yes, there is no way fingers are getting in there, I could fit the corner of an SD card in (Dell does NOT include a tool that I can remember) and it easily triggered all the buttons. There is reasonable amount of space between them (a finger's width or so) and they have a good amount of lift and response. With a better tool and some practice I am sure you would manage just fine. To be honest, I didn't even know there was a bevel on the bottom until today, and wonder if they did that just for this reason. Good luck - this monitor really is amazing.

what is the color gamut??

In paper the Dell U2718Q supposedly has 99.9 percent coverage of the SRGB color gamut. but in reality it is disappointingly less then the 99.9 percent that is advertised by the manufacturer. more realistically the percentage of the coverage of the SRGB color gamut of the monitor has been measured to top out at around 97.3 or so percent coverage of the SRGB gamut based of the results of professional calibrators reviews.

Do both displayport jacks have to be connected to get 4K?

No, you do not need both display ports to be connected. You can use either display ports or a proper HDMI 2.0 cable if you want to be able to access HDR content for games.
