Will this work with time warner internet service?

I will say this question was asked before the last 2 other individuals stated it would, but what you could do if go to time warner'ss website and see if the product would be compatible or you can phone them and find out as well.

I am with comcast, so it would be hard for me to give an answer, I do not want to say yes and mislead, because i do not know.

Why does this say Comcast only? This is on Time Warners approved list.

Because at the time it was only tested with Comcast, but if it is on your approval list go ahead and get it, I will state it is one the most beta modems / router combos units I have used with Netgear.

Most netgear products usually get tested with comcast first if approved, but that is most times not sure if ever tested with time warner and such. I would assume newegg has yet to update things as I am not sure who deal with that at newegg.

I would assume if it did not work with your cable you could return it, but if on that list it should be ok.

Question 3

Does this unit work with Charter Cable?

Short answer:  Ask Charter Cable.

This is a new model, I believe the only reason it says (Comcast Only) is because Comcast is the first cable internet provider to certify it.  The question is (one which I cannot answer) is:  Are there differences between different companies DOCSIS networks that would make one modem work for one network and not another?

To be honest, this modem is overkill as I cannot think of any cable system that has a network capable of 24 down-stream channels.  Comcast only supports 8 channels in my area.  The only reason I bought this modem is for future-proofing.  My old modem was obsolete after 7 years of good service.  I hope to get 7 or more years out of this modem regardless of what network advances are made.

Note:  Regardless of which modem you buy you will never get faster downloads than the speed tier you are paying for.

Is this backwards compatible with b/g/n?

Hello there Bill, To answer you question in more detail, I went into basic settings under wireless tab in the C7000 to make sure I was giving you the correct answer. It depends on what wireless network you will connect to.  The 2.4Ghz is for 802.11 b/g/n  and then the 5Ghz is for 802.11 a/n/ac

So I would believe it is backward compatible, most other sites on net as well confirm this.

Question 5

Would I be able to stream 4k over the wifi or should I get a separate router and a separate modem?  What would you say the range is?  I have a two story home that I plan on using this in.

Assuming your Internet speed tier is sufficient to support 4k streaming, then you should have no problem doing so with this modem.  The C7000 is actually over-kill for most users as few ISPs support more than 8 downstream DOCSIS channels.  As for range, I have a 2 story house (2900 sq. ft) and get good signal anywhere inside the house (note: modem is on 2nd floor) and about 20 or more feet from the outside.  Keep in mind that upgrading your router does little if the receiving devices don't support the extra bandwidth or frequencies.

does this work with Verizon?

I'm not sure. But, I have found with different internet providers there is a list of approved equipment, might check with Verizon. But, not sure if they have the speedy download that Comcast has, and this model wouldn't be used to its peak performance.

If you're wondering about the performance of this cable modem / router.  I have 150MB / download with Blast. I'm averaging 175MB download. It is pretty impressive!  I have teenage kids that game online, and most of our entertainment is internet based.  It supports IPV6 and is seamless.

I probably didn't answer your question regarding Verizon. Although, I wish you well in your endeavor.

What is the latest firmware for this model?

The firmware version I have is V1.01.14.

You will have to contact NetGear to find out if this is the most current firmware version.

can I use this on time warner cable?

Yes you can...  When you are activating your new modem/router, if your company doesn't have support for this exact model on their list, they can use the model of a different netgear modem and it will work. That's what my cable company did and it works great... In reality,  all they really need is the correct MAC ID number from the modem.

this product states comcast only yet netgear claims itll work with other isps. so which is it?

This says comcast only, but why will it not work with TWC as well?  The TWC site says this is an approved router/modem.

I have to say I looked at someone else question on this and have to say that if it is not listed here on new eggs website, it does not mean it is not compatible, I think what happen was it was first tested with Comcast Xfinity then all other ISP's maybe.

but it is compatible with Time Warner according to their website. If your ISP say it is then it is.
