Does this come with everything I need to start playing VR?

NO. you will also need 2 vive trackers and 2 controllers and gaming pc. This is sold as an upgrade for people who already have a standard vive. there is another item which has everything else you need

I just recently got the basic HTC Vive package but my only gripe is the wire management. Is the Pro variant wireless by chance?

No. But you can buy Vive wireless adapter to work on both Pro/normal. However, it is a separate purchase. I use it on the normal Vive that you have and works great. Only negative is has 2-3 hour battery but I never play longer anyway.

Where can I find the base stations and controllers without even buying the Vive only version ?

HTC has released a reduced priced bundle with 2 Vive 1.0 lighthouses and 2 Vive 1.0 controllers with the Vive Pro for $1099 for those who aren't just upgrading. Check their website for more details.

can i use my headset plugged into my pc i dont want to use the provided headphones with the vive pro?

The headphones are removable so you don't have to use them. I believe there are instructions in the box on how to do this.
