Does this Software include the Authorization Key?

When you purchase Windows (any version) from Newegg (or other reputable vendors), you will always get an authorization key (also known as a Product Key). Keep in mind that there are different types of product keys for any version of Windows the following types are available through Newegg:

*Retail Full Version license
  *OEM (Originial Equipment Manufacturer) license
  *Upgrade license

Each of these types have slightly different End User License Agreements (EULA's). For example, the Upgrade version you are asking about is only legitimate if you own an eligible product key/license for a previous version of Windows.

In other words, with this Upgrade version, you can only install this Windows 8 license by upgrading from Windows XP, Vista, or 7.

do you need to have a previous version of windows in order to use this or can i use it as the first boot up software? meaning if i am building a pc can i use this version? just a little confused since t say upgrade version...

I haven't gotten around to actually installing this SKU yet, but from what I understand, an upgrade version will upgrade an existing install or will do a clean install with proof of ownership of a previous OS(a valid CD or DVD).  If you are building a new machine from scratch, you'll probably want the OEM version.

The version I purchased included a disc but you have to be careful which type you purchase. Some are listed as download only (no media).

Will upgrade be 32-bit or 64-bit or will I have a choice during installation?

Although the product indicates that it is a "Full Upgrade" (as opposed to an OEM, or 32-bit only) it will ONLY allow upgrades of the same type. Another-words, you can only upgrade to 64-bit Windows 8 Pro using this product if you already have an earlier 64-bit qualifying version of Windows installed - you can not upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit. So, if you have a 32-bit install and need/want to go to 64-bit do NOT buy this product - it does NOT allow that as an "Upgrade" (and yes I wasted $100 to find that out).

I SEE THAT I CAN UPGRADE FROM WIN 7 BUT DOES THAT INCLUDE WIN 7 HOME? OR DO I ALREADY HAVE TO HAVE THE WIN 7 PRO INSTALLED FOR THIS UPGRADE TO WORK?

Does this wipe the drive clean when it is installed of any of the software programs pre-installed on computer?

When I installed it, I had it format the drive. So yes it can.
I have seen people install this on a PC with Windows Vista and 7 (both 64bit) and it made a folder oldwindows. There files and documents where still there, but until the programs where reloaded most did not work.
Also this has a disk for 32bit and a second disk for 64bit.

Will Windows 8 download to a PC having Windows 7 operating system and does it have to be installed by a tech?

I am making the assumption that what you are asking is whether Windows 8 can be INSTALLED on a machine that was designed for Windows 7. In most cases yes. I would recommend asking or going to your manufacturer's web site (such as Dell) to see what they say. Otherwise do an internet search for Windows 8 requirements and look for a Microsoft link that will scan your Windows 7 computer to see if it meets the Windows 8 requirements.

Installation does not REQUIRE a techie, but based on your question and terminology, I would recommend you having someone with more experience to do it for you.

i am using windows 7 pro on my tablet. is this what I need to upgrade to windows 8?

The first thing you need to find out is what architecture your tablet is using. There are currently 3 different architectures that I know about: x86(32 bit), 64 bit, and ARM.
This disk will work for a 32bit and 64bit install. However I expect your tablet to be an ARM architecture so I don't think this will work.
Second, can you connect your tablet to an external Disc drive? If it can then you can buy a CD. If not then the tablet may not be able to be easily upgraded.
