I have two orbi routers and two satellites 
Am I better to connect each satellite to each router or  the two satellites to one router and not use the second router?

Not sure why you would want the headache of a 2nd router. You've picked the right mesh networking option as the Netgear Orbi blows away their competition in this field, at least from everything I read. The Orbi and its satellite is suppose to cover 5,000 sq ft, but I have ALWAYS had trouble spots in my home, as I did with the 2 pic setup. So I added a 3rd pc to the system and got a 2nd satellite and now I am completely covered throughout the house with fast wifi everywhere! It sounds like you have a big home or some tricky dead spots, I would without question take back the other router and just use 2 satellites, and if you still have problems, like in a massive house, get yet another satellite. I myself would in no way use 2 routers ever again, not with this mesh technology that has finally arrived to the consumer. I've been thru hell with dual router/extenders over the years in a hope to blanket my house, but nothing worked dependably until the Orbi!

I'm a  newbie to this technology but what I have now stinks.  We have a large home 11 sq ft  I have 2 modems at either end. I'd love to get rid of one modem and be able to use additional satellites to cover my home.  Do I need ethernet access for the satellites or do they just plug in and they connect?  Would using a router at one end make the other end of my home have a weaker signal?

You will need the RBR50 Router and 1 or more RBS50 Satellites.  This Satellite REQUIRES the RBR50 Router.  So... start with the RBR50 Router, and then use any number of Satellite's to blanket your entire home in Wireless Internet.

You talk about modems on both ends of your home.  In this scenario, I would place the RBR50 Router as close to the CENTER of your home as possible.  Then place and test the Satellites in different locations around your home to determine which will give you the best coverage.  It is possible that you could use 1 RBR50 Router on one end of your home, and 1 RBS50 Satellite on the other end of your home and both ends of the house will have a strong signal.  It really depends on the size of your home, and the interference between the RBR50 and the RBS50s.  The more clear "line of sight" between them, the better the signal will be.  The Satellite's DO NOT ever need to be connected via ethernet cable.  They will connect and synch wirelessly to the RBR50 Router.

I have this exact system set up on a church campus with the RBR50 placed in their office, and 4x RBS50 Satellites placed near the 4 corners of their property.  This setup covers their entire campus including the main church building, a school building, and the pastor's house across the parking lot.  The systems takes some time to figure out the best placement of router and Satellites, but the coverage area is good and the signal is stable.
