Is this compatible with Time Warner Cable DSL?

I have Century link DSL and it runs great for a DSL. I would suspect it will work fine on the TIME Warner. Good thing about it is that with it being dual band We've spread out the bands. Smart phones and laptops across the 2 Ghz. and 5 Ghz. bands. That opened up the throughput when other items are running, X-box running Netflix etc that only have the 2 Ghz bznd.
     It's been the best DSL Modem / Router I've encountered..

Question 2

For set up, do I need to have an Ethernet (or a LAN port) on my laptop? I've looked at what's included with this package and I see Ethernet and telephone cords included, but my laptop doesn't have a port for an Ethernet (the laptop does have a few USB ports).  Will I be able to set this up?

Here's what the manual for this router:
Connect your computer to the modem router.
Method 1: Wired
Connect your computer’s Ethernet port to the LAN port on the modem router via the
Ethernet cable.
Method 2: Wirelessly
Use the default SSID (Wireless Network Name) and Wireless Password printed on the
product label of the modem router to connect wirelessly.
Method 3: Use the WPS button
Wireless devices that support WPS, including Android phones, tablets, most USB
network cards, can be connected to your router through this method. (WPS is not
supported by IOS devices.)

Given this info, you should be able to connect without an ethernet port on your laptop.

Question 3

Does this unit work with any internet provider?

I do not know, the type of DSL frontier has, is compatible with this unit in my area.  I am sure it works with others using the same compatible network.  It is a good unit, I am happy with it.

Question 4

The name of this router is the Archer D7, but the specifications along the way call it a C7.  So which is it, and what is the difference?  (I have an older C5 router, and I like it pretty well except for in the access control feature, it WILL NOT allow me to control access to https:// domains, only http://.  Customer service at TP-Link told me that new routers, including the D5 and VR routers, have a new User Interface (UI) that will allow access control for https:// domains.)

The "D" in D7 is no doubt for the ADSL modem that is built-in to this router. So unless you have, or are changing to, a DSL service and want your router to have a built-in DSL modem, this is not the router for you. OTTOMH it seems they have other C models above the C5 and those are what you'd want to look at if you want to upgrade to a newer TP-Link.
