Does the kit include two wall plugs, or do I need to order two units to connect internet to an Xbox?

This kit comes with two powerline adapters, so you can plug in one next to the modem, and the other elsewhere. Press the sync button on the first one, then on the second, and they'll connect.

how do you surge protect with this? I had a lightning strike next to my home last year, frying my modem, TVs, AC, ect. So all my devices are plugged into surge protectors. Can you plug this into a surge protector and will it still work?

You can’t surge suppressors this.  It needs direct access to the AC line to work.  You can surge suppress items behind this by plugging a suppressor into it secondary socket.

Is there a way to turn off the power save mode?

they don't go in power save mode if connected to an always on device ( like a switch, router, or PC with Wake On Lan capability ). Most modern computers will keep the device on even if they are in sleep mode.

I haven't tried it with other powerline adapters but the bandwidth is definitely much better than a 500mbps powerline set I was using.  Now I can stream my uncompressed video files over the powerline network.
