what's the battery life?

When tested by independent company while gaming about 2 and half hours.   I have played mmos and games on an asus laptop for over 4 years and I would recommend that you always play with power supply.  Asus is an outstanding gaming laptop for the price.  If not gaming or using high consumption you could get up to 4 hours.

Question 2

Does this laptop come with windows 10 installed on the SSD? or is it installed on the HDD?
I've read some reviews of people saying they got windows 10 installed the HDD instead of the SSD.

Question 3

I have several questions regarding the negative comments.
1. Does it really overheat to the point it shuts down when playing games on high graphics?
2. How long will it work for? (read a comment about motherboard failure in 6 months)
3. How long does the battery last for when using it to take notes at school?

1. Have had it set to medium settings and it does get pretty toasty. So I would not recommend high personally. 
2. I have had mine for over a year and half now and its been working with a couple of quirks. One key is already wearing out. If you carry it around. Put something between the screen and keyboard as mine has marked the screen with the keys.
3. about 3-4 hours, but to get that long. I generally have to set the power settings to low on everything and turn on the energy saver.

The specifications state that the maximum RAM supported is 16GB, yet an identical model with a slightly different configuration (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8S13KT2185) states that it supports up to 32GB. Does this model support 32GB? Thanks!

Yes. The installed RAM is 16GB but it supports a maximum 32GB of RAM. The Newegg specifications do not indicate the proper maximum supported memory. When in doubt, it's always a good idea to check the manufacturer's support site.

Is the 4G ggdr5  upgradeable?

Graphics memory (GDDR or vRAM) is not upgradeable on any laptop as far as I am aware (unless the laptop has an interchangeable graphics card, which this one does not), and is only upgradeable on a desktop by replacing the graphics card. 4GB is actually fairly high for vRAM in an average new high-performance gaming laptop, though you can buy some more expensive laptops with up to 16GB.

Are you sure you did not mean the standard 16GB DDR4 memory (RAM), upgradeable to 32GB?

I know the specs say the keyboard is backlit, but the pic makes it look as if the w-a-s-d is backlit. My question is, is it fully backlit?

Yes it is fully backlit.
If it stops working here is the solution that worked for me.

Go to Control Panel to uninstall the ATK package.
    Download and reinstall the ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities. Here's the link.
    Download and reinstall the KB Filter Driver. ...
    Use FN + F3 / FN + F4 to adjust the backlight of the keyboard for a try.

It is indeed, but it's not the fastest SSD you will find. I put in my 850 evo into the 2.5" bay and am booting from it as that is much faster.

VR ready require a GTX 970 not a GTX 960M, you can develop for a VR Device using this laptop, but playing a VR, I can't guarantee that.
