Are there two or one slots on this laptop? I know specifications are sometimes inaccurate but this laptop supposedly supports 16 gigs yet only has one channel according to the spec listed here? I couldn't find a servicing manual anywhere online.

One slot. Check YouTube for RAM install on VivoBooks. It's weird. You have to remove bottom panel which releases the keyboard, then remove battery, and finally detach mainboard. I'd guess 2 dozen screws and several ribbon cables. It's not really hard for a tinkerer, but I bought mine with 8Gb knowing that would be plenty. If you need 16GB....well watch the video.

How is the screen on this laptop? Quality? IPS?

The screen on this laptop is pretty good and moving the lid open and close is a little nerve reckoning as the stiffness in the brackets compared to how light the laptop is. It feels like it is going to bend but does not.

As for the brightness on the screen, it is plenty bright with windows 10 and i find myself quite often using the night mode to make the brightness (blue light) easier on my eyes. Viewing angle is quite wide on this and i believe that it is in fact an IPS panel just not 100% sure on it. Hope this helps

is this running in dual channel and if not is it easy to get to the ram and add second stick?

It is not running in dual channel it is user upgradeable but you must take the entire laptop apart to add an extra stick of ram to the bottom of the circuit/motherboard. The 8gbs of ram is already soldered to the pcb. It took me an hour of carful patience to take the device apart, there is no user guide included with the laptop or online and no how-to videos online either. The manufacturer is unhelpful and will tell you to take it to an authorized servicer as to not void the warranty. Proper ram etiquette is to match the modules... My computer not sure about others is a exclusive to asus ID made by crucial.
