The most power a CB can put out is 4 watts at the antenna, right? Well, mostly right: that's a normal AM transmission. If you put all of the power into a single one of the "sidebands" instead of into both, you can legally put out more power. More power is more range. And it reduces crowding on the channels: an upper sideband signal won't interfere with a lower sideband signal even on the same frequency.
This unit can transmit in ordinary AM, on the "upper" sideband, or on the "ower" sideband, all controlled by a single switch. Tone controls allow you to adjust the audio for better sound.
