Question 1

Some of the reviews claim that it breaks early into ownership. Am I at large risk of this if I buy it? Are there any steps to avoid it?

I've had mine for just over a month and haven't experienced any problems. As for steps to avoid problems:  With any new PC purchase, you should make sure to upgrade Windows first, which can take a while. Keep updating until there are no more updates (new ones may become available after updating). Then install and update your primary software (office software and the like). Before gaming, you'll probably want to upgrade the graphics card drivers as well. Once you're all set up, then it's time to play. :) I can't speak for others, but so far mine works like a dream.

Is the os installed on the ssd and I’d like to know if I’m the future could i put in a new cpu, or even another 1070 for sli? But that is dependent on the motherboard

Yes, the OS comes preinstalled on the SSD. I cannot tell you much else because I only had this computer a few days before returning it. It was a refurb and had problems. I am not sure why you would purchase a new gamer computer with the intention of changing the CPU but you could probably do that. I had to get a slightly different model Acer due to stocking availability and I can tell you that one is designed not to be worked on.

are there ample fans/cooling? will I need to buy an additional and is there room to add one?

Mine was getting hot from pushing it a little(without overclocking), so I put a small fan on the side to blow cooler air at the CPU & GPU. There really aren't any other places to put fans, and the one spot for a fan only fits a small 3.5" x 3.5" fan.

How many HDMI ports does this have?  Not in specs and just viewing the provided pictures I can only pinpoint one for sure...

One on the motherboard, one on the GPU. Also has a DVI port on the GPU that you can turn into HDMI with an adapter if you needed another one.

I am sorry, but I can't help you much on this one. I ordered the machine several weeks ago but ended up returning it because it was constantly freezing. It was a refurbished unit. I gave NewEgg lots of information on the problems so hopefullyt that machine can be properly diagnosed and repaired. 
I wrote an extensive synopsis on the machine I had to replace it with and then realized your query was on my first order. They were both Intel 7 Acer gamers but quite different in design.

Would it be pretty simple to transfer the components into a different case? I didn’t know if there would be a problem since it’s prebuilt.

Yes and no, I transfered to a different case, however the mobo pins were trick, I used the adapter from the power button on preditor case and hooked my power pins through that, exension on 4 pin power cable might be needed depending on case

An anonymous user just wrote a review not to update the bios from Acer Care Center. Can anyone elaborate on this? I wrote a 5 star review after a week and had two minor system restarts. About a week after that review I had a few more alarming restarts while attempting to run different programs. This past week has been fine with zero crashes, but I am concerned about my system being damaged and don't want to lose any work in the future due to an abrupt system restart.

I don't see the hurt in updating the bios to the latest  ACER would not have posted on the website if they didn't want people to use it.  Plus I heard they had to update the bios because of issues with the SSD not booting.   But I also had random crashes with this PC.  And I found out one of the RAM modules was faulty.  You can test it by using Windows Memory Diagnostic tool (google it on how to use it).  The crappy part is that I filed a warranty claim.  I thought they would just have me send the bad RAM module to them and they send me a new one.  Nope.  They wanted me to send the entire PC to them (at their shipping cost) and it would take two weeks to get a new one.  I didn't want to be without a PC for a few weeks.   So I just figured 24gb of RAM is enough.  Hope this helps.
