how large is it?

It's 5 inches by 5 inches and one and a half inches high.  I was concerned by it's small size as compared with my old 'tower'. (which also played CDs, until that feature broke)  (The Chromebox of course does not)  In today's world, and unlike the male anatomy, size means nothing. I believe that it also has 'built in' hack (or whatever it's called) protection at no cost. I am more than fine with mine.

Question 2

Can someone provide info about how loud/quiet it is? I've heard that the previous gen was fairly loud (compared to the ASUS, which most people say is basically silent).

I can't hear it when it's on. It is more quiet than my SSD laptop and it only occasionally makes a noise when a fan is running. This chromebox starts up and shuts off both quickly and quietly. I'm very happy with this purchase, as it does a good job of making my 50" TCL TV into a monitor.

Does it come with a display, keyboard and mouse?

It does not.  It comes with a power cord, and the computer, as pictured.

Can adobe flash software be loaded on this device?

I never tried, but I highly doubt it.  The Chrome OS doesn't allow you to download additional applications.  I've never had issues watching streaming video with a Chrome OS, however.  Seems they have a workaround.  We use multiple Chromeboxes and Chromebooks in our business and watch video content on all of them.

Can this output 4k video?  Looking to use this for digital signage.  I have a 4k display.

We use this HP Chromebox for digital signage - videos and photos - with HP 60" TVs.  The TVs are 1080 and not 4K, however the image is always HD and very crisp.  My only concern with 4K content is whether it would challenge the processing speed of the HP Chromebox.  Make sure you use an Ethernet connection with the Chromebox.  You could always run your content at 1080 if the 4K stalls, and I doubt that anyone would see the difference.  As the Chromeboxes are relatively cheap and get delivered quickly, purchase one to see what you think.  You can repurpose it if you are not happy as these are great tools for desktop use.  You could also consider a Chromebox with more processing speed.  I also have the:  Acer Desktop Computer Chromebox CXI2-I38GKM Intel Core i3 5th Gen 5005U (2.0 GHz) 8 GB DDR3L 16 GB SSD which I purchased from Newegg for $370.  I use this as my personal computer, and it's noticeably faster than the HP with 4G.

Can I load windows on this?

No, this is a Chrome OS.  You don't need Windows.  Once you get used to the Chrome OS and using related apps (e.g. Docs, Sheets, etc.), you will not miss Windows.

Can you stream Netflix?

Since the Chromebox uses the Chrome browser exclusively,  Netflix should work, but it will be thru the browser.

Can I format this Computer and add any other O.S. ?

Lookup "how to install Linux on a Chromebook".

This is basically a Chromebook (laptop), but in a desktop form facor... so it should work. Haven't tried firsthand, as Chrome OS is actually good and does what I need.
