Will the strips work plugged directly into an addressable 3 pin rgb header from the motherboard?

No. It uses Corsair's custom pin configuration.

can this be plugged into the fan hubs for the SP series? I'd like my LED strips to sync up with my fans

I do not believe so. I have SP rgb fans and these strips and the connectors are different. to get them to sync up you will most likely need a Commander Pro, which is how I have mine connected.

On mine the actual Strip is 11 1/2 with 2 inches of wire extension on each end

Will it work with MSI mystic light, instead of buying Corsair node?

Pretty sure not. MSI Mystic Light is a simple 4-pin analog/PWM setup with a ground pin and one pin controlling each color component. All LEDs connected to a port will shine the same color at the same time, because all are connected to the same wires. The Corsair system uses a 3-pin connection running some sort of data protocol and some form of active logic in each accessory in order to control each LED individually.

So yes, you will need different LED strips for MSI Mystic Lighting vs. Corsair. The MSI kind are cheaper and more readily available from different companies, because they're simpler. They seem to contain more LEDs too. The effects possible with Corsair's individually addressable LEDs are impressive though, and may be worth the extra cost of these strips and the hub needed to control it. It won't be synced to your motherboard though, sadly, since all Corsair LEDs are controlled from Corsair Link.
