Good Gaming laptop 10/18/2011
This review is from: Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad Intel Core i7-2630QM 6GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Y570 (08622KU)
Pros:
Nvidia GT 555M
Core i7
6gb ram
Switchable graphics
Great for gaming
Thermal management "button"
Cons:
Bloatware
The "AccuType" keyboard was something I was not expecting. Somewhat noisy depending on the location you are at and how much you need to type.
Fan gets somewhat noisy when playing games, but not noticeable when playing in areas with constant noise.
Randomly stopped responding on me when I first got it while installing, probably due to the slow hdd speed.
The 0 on the keypad is too small, I always press the right arrow key instead of the 0 key as I think it is a regular keyboard.
The trackpad, oh man the trackpad.... its just like the other reviews said. Sometimes it works properly, other times it just assumes you're holding down 2 fingers on the trackpad so it zooms in on everything, which is annoying. Probably due to the textured trackpad.
The Graphical Interface when you push the volume, screen brightness, one-touch theatre, and thermal management buttons sometimes minimizes some applications if it is running in full-screen.
Overall Review:
Could be more efficient with the fan in the laptop while playing games or anything that would need to increase the temperature of the laptop to make the fan run quieter.
This was significantly better than what I had originally bought as it can do everything else that I wanted that the other could not.
Mostly bought this for gaming and for Battlefield 3 when it gets released as it seems like it would run it pretty fine on average settings.
