Great Zalman cooling without the big honking size 01/21/2012
This review is from: ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink
Pros:
Zalman is known for two things:
- Making CPU coolers that really cool down your processor, and
- Making CPU coolers so huge they will not fit unless your case is the size of North Dakota.
This one is a great cooler, with about 20mm less height than the more massive Zalman heatsinks. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fairly large cooler, but it will fit in most reasonably sized mid tower cases. It also leaves decent clearance for the RAM.
The slightly smaller size does not take away from its cooling ability - seems to do just as good a job as bigger models I've used like the 9700, 9900 etc.
Cons:
Only complaint is that the fastening clip that you use to attach the heatsink to the mounting bracket was way too curved to use out of the box - had to bend it into a flatter shape with a pair of pliers. After that it worked fine though. The heatsink isn't going anywhere.
Overall Review:
Great choice for an LGA1155 cooler especially if you're not sure the taller, really whopping ones will fit in your case.
