Pros:
low cost, allows for better air flow. Probably works fine in other brands of motherboards.
Cons:
Not supported on Intel motherboards. Taken from Intel site...

Goto intel site and search for "half height memory" should be first link that says "Desktop Boards — Troubleshooting system memory"
