Works well when stays connected? 11/07/2012
This review is from: Pivos PTGNANUSB USB Wireless Adapter 802.11 b/g/n USB 2.0
Pros:
PIVOS AIOS recognized immediately. Wireless streaming of even HD video is generally without stuttering, looks great even just through composite video on 57" rear-projection Sony XBR. Allows me to review and play from my entire networked library from 2 different NAS units.
Cons:
* Folder structure navigation is clunky. I can figure out where networked videos are, but I'm anticipating lots of complaints from my wife (or I'm just going to have to do it).
* PIVOS AIOS disconnects frequently from the wireless network and requires 5-10 mins of "reset" to reconnect. Not sure whether this is the wireless adapter or the base device. This is a BIG deal because no computer on my network disconnects like this does. (The device also restarts in an endless loop until you flip the toggle switch, but I think that's a device issue not an adapter issue).
* still apparently doesn't have Netflix certification ... this wasn't why I bought the device but could be a dealbreaker for some.
Overall Review:
I bought this to work with the PIVOS AIOS device to stream my media library to an older TV that doesn't have HDMI. That device recognized this immediately (unlike the other USB n adapters I'd tried). I haven't really tried much on the internet yet (in terms of streaming).
