This review is from: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGD38G1600ELK
Pros:
Free
Cons:
Even free it's a waste of time and money, avoid this stuff at all costs, it's junk. Seems to be a VERY high failure rate and I'm one of the unlucky ones. Got one good stick and one bad stick. And of course Patriot demands that the entire set be returned rather than just the bad stick, so even with an RMA I'm left with two options:
1) Buy new RAM to keep this computer up and running in the two weeks or more it will take to get a replacement.
or
2) Toss in an old motherboard and RAM combo which would require reinstalling the O/S again to be compatible with the old MB, then installing it again once the replacement RAM arrives.
Overall Review:
Even with an RMA I have absolutely no confidence that the replacement RAM will be any good and I'll be right back to square one. With so many bad sticks out there what are the odds that both sticks in the replacement set will be good?
There's got to be a better way to handle returns so that customers are not left in such a bad situation when a company releases a sub-par product. How about it Patriot, are you going to step up to the plate and make it right or are you going to make your customers jump through a bunch of hoops just in the hopes of getting a replacement that works?
