Great for what it is 11/22/2012
This review is from: XFX One Radeon HD 5450 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card ON-XFX1-STD2
Pros:
I bought it with a $20 rebate, and in the end it was really only 9.99. I bought it because I had to RMA my graphics card, and I don't have onboard video.
It's easy to install, it seems to be of decent build quality. I was surprised to see that it actually will run Diablo 3 on its lowest specs, albeit very slowly and choppy; it's better than nothing!
For uses other than 3D gaming, it's great. It does exactly what you need it to.
Cons:
Obviously, at 5450, it's not going to knock your socks off. It's not going to do 3D gaming very well (despite what it says on the box). If you're looking to find a cheap way to play some games, I'd look at spending a few more bucks. 512mb of DDR-3 isn't going to cut it.
With that said -- it's not really a "con". That shouldn't be your expectation to begin with.
The only real "con" I had was trying to find drivers on the XFX website. You have to create some kind of login to download drivers? That's a pain.
Just go straight to AMD's website and download catalyst software. You can toss the CD that comes with this card in the trash.
Overall Review:
If this card is still on for dirt cheap and you need a quick solution that is marginally better than onboard video, this should be your card.
If you're looking for a way to cheap out on a card that can pull of some 3D gaming, spend a little more.
